Hi everyone, after weeks of searching the net I am so glad that I've found this forum.

I am in search of a 15 yr anniversary ring for my lady, and after looking through several merchants (JamesAllen, Brian Gavin, Blue Nile, etc.), I have came to the 3 rings below. Can you help me choose the best stone below based on quality and value?

Here's my search criteria.

Budget: $16-$20k
Carat: 1.8 to 2
Color: G-H
Clarity: VS1-VS2
Cut: Ideal

What I am really after is a H&A or near H&A stone, that will be set on a Platinum solidtaire ring, with 6 prong.

I believe these are the best 3 stones that I could find within my search criteria. If you can find better stones and prices, please do let me know.

Also, what's with these online merchants? I don't see any discounts available. I almost never bought anything online without a discount or some sort of coupon. Are diamonds exclude from online discounts/coupons?

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Well I love the fatter arrows on the $18k stone but I would probably stick with the $16.7k one. I dont
really see a whole lot of reason to go with one of the other two at a higher cost. All AGS000 with
nice H&A (you did your homework). The $17k stone clarity is based on clouds so make sure to have
that checked out if you are interested in that one. I cant really see where the inclusions are in
the other two stones (clarity map is too light).

Not much discount on diamonds due to low mark up on-line (well at least that's the story). I think
there is a $100 coupon for JA and you can ask them about a wire price. Tell them that you are a
Pricescope member and see if there gets you anything.

Thanks for the response tyty333, much appreciated.

I do really like the $16.7k stone as well, and honestly I couldn't tell the difference from it versus the other two higher priced ones.

Do you think the 1.8 ct stone would sit well with a 2MM platinum solitaire ring 6 prong? My lady has very small hands and wear a 3.5 size.

I am looking at this specific ring.

With her small finger it will look enormous in a fantastic way! I'm jealous!

thanks everyone. bought the ring and a got a 3% discount off the stone by mentioning pricescope. also got $100 of the platinum setting.

now, i need to get her a matching platinum wedding band.

her engagement ring is a 2MM in size 3.5.

what should be the width of the wedding band? 2MM, or something slightly larger such as a 3MM; so that it will stack well with the engagement?

thanks,

What is her style? If she's simple/traditional, a matching plain 2mm band is probably how I'd go. Or if she might like a little extra sparkle, how about a 2-3mm band with some small diamonds?

Then there's me, who would want a band that's either got a really cool/unique pattern to it or lots of bling :)

Honestly, I think I'd probably take her to a nice dinner, give her the new ring, and then tell her you'd like to pick a band together. Have fun!!!

She's more traditional/plain, but we'll be looking at some bands with small diamonds too.

Is it ideal to keep the band same size/width as the ring?

There's no hard and fast rule. It's all personal preference. Me personally, I like it when there's a thicker, more decorative band if the diamond is set as a simple solitaire.
