My wife currently has a 1 carat, I color VVS2 cushion.

I would like to get her something better for our 10th anniversary later this year....not sure if it's possible....looking to spend around $7500.

Any ideas? Ask me questions and help me find something perfect...

I haven't really researched this stuff in 11 years.....but you guys came through clutch back then....

Does she want a new ring? Are you able to trade her diamond on another? Would she want to do that?
Would she like diamond studs or tennis bracket?

Is lab-grown an option if she’s sentimental about her original ring or may have times when larger isn’t safe or desirable?
Does she know/want to upgrade?

Does it have to be a diamond?

This is what I would do:
- Keep the original diamond and make it into a pendant or bangle bracelet
- Sell the setting at market precious metal rate
- Get a new diamond and setting

I would not trade-in the original diamond as it has sentimental value, and the trade-in value is likely to be a lot lower than what it was worth 10 years ago!

Happy Anniversary in advance!

DK :))

Have you contacted GOG about their upgrade credit / process ?
That would be step 1 so you know how much $ total budget you potentially have with GOG towards a new diamond + setting....

As a starting place - Do you recall how much the orig loose stone $ cost ? Generally with same store upgrades that's the credit (and the basis $ for the vendors 1.5x or 2x orig spend requirement ) .... old setting if not reused is sadly melt value (3.5-4 grams 14k = around $200)

She might love her stone that she currently has.
How about resetting it into a halo setting?

depending on your store upgrade credit $ amount - the GOG August Vintage Line is very nice... maybe GOG could reuse the existing setting ???

example: 1.61 J with Strong Blue FL ! :kiss2:

My DH put my OG EGD into a pendant, and purchased a much larger LGD and placed it in my OG setting.
However, that was MY dream, and what we discussed at the time we were searching for my OG EGD. An upgrade was something *I* wanted. LGD market made that possible in under 10 years.
We will celebrate 10 years of marriage next year, as well! Congratulations.
I think it’s lovely you would like to give her the gift of an upgrade. Just be certain that’s something her heart desires.
This journey is exciting, providing she is on board!
Please keep us updated. Always willing to help!

Love this option. I could see a new setting to compliment the stone and have similar vibe as her old setup but embellished. But I’m biased and really like these chunky facets. How I wish my wife liked them as much as me.

That said, I would echo the wisdom of the other ladies here. What makes sense to us as men doesn’t always jive with our better halves. I discovered this when buying my wife’s initial ER. I planned on a 2 carat stone. She did not want anything near that large. IMO, her logic defies the normal of most ladies; however, at the end of the day it’s for her, not me, so as difficult as it can be — listening to her desires & fulfilling those is what makes her happiest.

Good luck OP!

Oh gosh, her current setting/ring is really pretty. I wonder, with heavy modifications (like DK work), if it could be reused
for a larger stone.

Another option she may enjoy - a 10-stone eternity band for a RHR.

All of this. My ten year anniversary is in June and I requested a three band Trinity ring. I told him it doesn't need to be Cartier and an independent goldsmith is perfectly fine. But I think you need to figure out what she really wants!

For me, I wear bands more than anything. What does she like to wear? Would a really pretty diamond or diamond and gemstone band be appreciated?
