On my search in the high street to see what i was looking for and what would suit my hand it totally shook up my original choice of a flourecent baguette style ring, i know some of what ive been told in the uk shops is sales talk but some to be true but its changed my mind.

I did however try a beautifull 1 carat ring with channel set diamond shoulders which was stunning and i would like to try to recreate it but this ring was platinum and i am looking at yellow gold so im not too sure if it will have the same effect or what setting to choose, when i looked at the ring all i could see was diamonds sparkling im not sure whether that was becase the platinum blended in with the stones, i just didnt pay too much attention to the setting that i should have as i couldnt take my eyes off the main stone any advice or piccies that could help me, as i took a picture but it didnt come out too well you see the sparkles but not the actual setting. Also if i go in this direction to get the shoulder sparkles should the side stones be round or square to get the best result?

Or my second choice was just a plain yellow gold band like either the tiffany setting or the trellis setting

Regarding the stone i have been advised my options are a little over kill, my choice was colour g/h with vs1 clarity but ive been advised h/i and vs2/I1 and was shown a stone with the lower rating and it still looked beautifull or if i can afford it do i just go with the higher settings? This was from a shop that wanted to sell me a plain band with 1ct stone with the lower rating as £3750 or $7312 with today exchange rate

Sounds expensive.

Sorry forgot to mention im coming to florida in june and will be buying the ring from Abazias (at the moment)

It makes me so annoyed when I hear salespeople telling customers "you dont need to get this certified or appraised..." It''s always in your best interest to at least have an independent appraiser look at your stone before final purchase. Period. Of course if there is something not quite right with the stone, then of course the salesperson wouldn''t encourage you to do so. Just based on her comment on cert/appraisals, I wouldn''t buy at this place. Ever. You want a place that encourages an informed buying decision. I think you can do better elsewhere.

JulieN remember in the UK 17.5% VAT is included into the price.

I wont be buying from there, that shop is in the uk, as im planning on buying one when i come to florida i have to choose setting before i come so i hit the uk shops to see what suited my hand and what i liked, i was just looking as guidance as before i would have ordered the baguette style but i tried one of those on yesterday and it just didnt have the wow factor for me at least. I got the wow factor from a platinum channel set ring and im just wondering it it will ahve the same wow factor in yellow gold?
