We have finally narrowed it down...we are likely going to go with a POH (98% sure) from GOG and our budget allows 1 carat (so about 5.6x5.6x4mm stone). I currently have a small RB and my husband thinks a square would look lovely - I am OK with that

I am thinking to go with a three across style setting wth trillion sides with a very narrow shank (my husband and I both love the lucida with trillions) . Would this be a great look if I want to make my diamond look "big"?

My finger size is about a 5 - 5 1/4.

I am not a fan of solitaires on my hand so not looking for that. I do welcome any suggestions on what might be nice. If you have a similar size finger and size center stone, I would love hear what you did and see pics.

Thanks in advance.

Oh ya, the setting has to be reasonable - I am a busy mama and like to wear my rings - low maintainance bling is what I am looking for. The setting cannot go to the sky - I don''t want to be catching my children on my ring all the time

I'm going through the same thing- I got a .99 PoH and originally I wanted a 3stone but started considering a solitaire for a while, but I really like the 3stone look better and so does my FF so I'm back to that.

I like the look of trillians with a square if they are small sidestones. Larger ones make it look blocky which I personally don't like, but many do. I think it would look great with small trillians and to make it look more delicate, have the shank taper to a point meeting the point of the trillians. I can't remember where I saw the best executed example of this; I'll try to look for one.

If you want it more delicate to make your stone pop, you could have baguette sides.

ETA: have you considered a halo that follows the shape of the PoH to make it look bigger?

I''m not sure trillian sides would necessarily make a diamond look "big" but it would look lovely. To really emphasize size I think you need to have small diamond sides because they will make your diamond look large by comparison. Thin shanks are a must as well as thin wedding bands. You didn''t mention halo''s, but they are notorious for making a stone look larger.

lol, I guess we''re on the same page

yes, baguette sides. Only thing is they can be tricky to match a wedding band to.

If you were set on trillians this is kinda what I was talking about (Natalie K ring with pear sides).

Yeah, heraanderson... as many baguette bands to choose from and obviously no PoH... could go with a plain band or if there was pave on the shank a pave band. I will say your band with a .90 asscher and .75 cushette I tried was lovely... still considering that band.

Good suggestions. I am not sure how I feel about the halo idea. I haven''t tried one on but I know there are a lot of ladies around here with pretty ones. I am not sure about it with the POH.

How is your POH sera? Do you HAVE it? What are its measurements, if I may ask? what size is your finger? I bet it is lovely. I know the video is what did it for us! It just sparkles like crazy! I will be excited to see it in real life.

Are you considering a halo for yours? Do halo''s affect light getting to the center? Does that make sense? LOL

Are you familiar with the tiffany lucida with side trillions? Take a peek if not and let me know what you think.

That being said, I need to get to bed. I tried to attach the file with the tiffany ring - maybe it will actually work

Have a great night.

I didn''t realize that was the lucida you were referring to.. That setting does make the center diamond appear larger.

Hi Redeemed,
I think the POH stones are just stunning. I was searching for a three stone setting for POH (approx 1ct) myself and came across this ring by Hearts on Fire:

http://www.heartsonfire.com/JC_search.aspx?item=IdentD3R&type=8

This ring is stunning in person - pic doesn''t do it justice! HoF will sell setting only in wg for 1,500 dollars. I contacted Jon in GOG a couple of weeks ago and he said that he would be able to set the POH diamonds in this setting. The ring has a narrow shank and which makes the diamonds pop. It is semi-bezel setand is open at the side so allows plenty of light in to reflect off stones. I tried this setting on and really love it because I have size 7 finger and it gives great coverage accross the finger. Although it is modern looking it has a slightly antiquey vibe because of the milgrain edge and semi bezel. I love it (in case you didn''t realise it already!!). it also is relatively low set and has a matching wedding ring that fits flush (ticks all the boxes for me) - pave diamonds give a subtle shimmer - lovely contrast to the centre stone. I''ll try attach a pic. Someone on here has the three stone version of this ring - only diff is it has pave on three sides - think it is Sundial - i''ll have a look. Best of luck with your search.

BTW I think the Lucida style with small side stones would also be very pretty!

Thanks for the suggestions.

I really like the trillian sides where they are smallish like in the Tiff picture. Here''s another pic just for fun of a square with half-moon and pave. From Leon MEge''s site:

That is SO nice Angeline! Very pretty. I never liked half moons much but they look great there.

Thanks for sharing.

Alright, we decided. We are going to follow the Tiffany lucida setting and I have a guy who is just waiting for my new diamond from GOG to get to him and then he will begin work on it. So exciting!

My shank will be 2.5mm with trillion sides AND I must have been a really good girl because my husband is getting him to create a channel set band to go with it! It is going to be soooo pretty.

Thank you for all the suggestions ladies! I am so glad the decision making is over!!!

I will have to post some snaps in SMTR when it is all done.

Have fun finalizing those plans SERA.
