Hi all!

Am after an engagement ring and I think my future wife would prefer something of great brilliance and sparkle. She would probably not look at the diamond under the scope so my guess would that the diamond would just have to be eye-clean without any visible clouds or pin-points etc.

Would need expert opinion on these 2 diamonds as the ACA seems to just look better from the pictures, but the AGS report shows quite abit of inclusions. Or would I be safer going for the ES (an extra $2.5k) hoping that it does indeed have a great brilliance?

ACA F SI1

ES F VVS1

Thanks!

The SI1 does not have the eye-clean notation.

Definitely the F SI1!!! Call them about the clarity, but it looks SO much better than your other option, not to mention the huge price difference!

Thanks for pointing that out! =)

How would you then compare the ES diamond to these:

And

Have contacted ERD to send more information and pictures over too.

Why are you looking at VVS2 stones? You're paying far too much. You could get a VS2/VS1 and still have a clean stone, some even SI1...

Thanks!

Consider this alternative. Less expensive that the VVS1, an ACA, eye-clean, and super WHITE. http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2715446.htm

My first choice would be the 1.2 and then the first ACA you choose

Wow thanks guys for all the wonderful suggestions!

The Brian Gavin diamond sure looks look! Probably would not go past the 1.1 carat size as my girlfriend is quite petite and may find anything larger looking too ostentatious.

That said, I would still want to get her the whitest and brightest diamond within my budget (Under $12k) but would want to find something of value as well.

How does the Brian Gavin Blue compare to his Signature range?

This particular diamond looks very attractive to me!

Do you think it is worth the extra $2k over this?

Thanks everyone! Truly grateful! :)

1.1 is where things just start getting good, honestly. You will have escaped the huge price jumps at .9 cts and 1.0 cts; the next is a modest jump at 1.2, and a larger jump at 1.5. Also at BGD you must upgrade not only size, but either the clarity or color. If you start at E VS2, you are forced to upgrade to D or VS1, which starts getting really expensive.

Thanks for the advice! So between the 3 diamonds you would go for the 1.2 carat for the greatest value I reckon? Puts me into perspective though, am putting this into serious consideration as well...

My preference would be to drop to a G H I color in a VS2 or SI1 and stay with a Ideal cut. In a setting those colors will still be very white and a clarity where you can't see inclusions is the best value.
