1.78ct I VS2, HCA 0.5...what do you think about this stone?

I have been researching diamonds for a couple of months now and am really close to buying the diamond below...what do you think? My main questions are regarding an I color on a diamond that big, is it going to look ok and how much of a difference would I notice if I went with an H color (cost for H color is significantly higher and I would have to get a smaller stone to fit in my budget)? Also, I was wondering how the Very Good Polish would affect the stone.

GIA
Round Brilliant
Weight: 1.78 ct
Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Cut: Excellent
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None
Comments: pinpoints not shown, surface graining not shown

Depth: 59.1%
Table: 58%
Crown angle: 34 degrees
Pavilion angle: 40.6 degrees
Culet: small

HCA: 0.5

Once again, my questions:
Is I VS2 ok in a diamond this size?
How is very good polish going to effect the stone?

Thank you

Experts will hopefully answer shortly. But since GIA tends to round a bit, I wonder if this diamond might be borderline a bit shallow, causing some obstruction.

Do you have images of this diamond?
Ask for the gemologist feedback on this diamond.
Between H & I would be a 1 step difference but would not be a phenomenal diff as they both are Near Colorless.

If they say it is white in shade and 100% eye clean then go for it. We usually recommend triple X (cut, polish & symmetry) stone specially in this size however VG polish would not matter much. Go for it if it suits your interest.

Few imp things I always keep in mind is to check the return policy, Return Shipping, 100% refund, warranty, upgrade policy but before that, get the ASET / Ideal Scope Images as well as their Gemologist feedback.

That is possible within the GIA rounding.
34/40.6 actual measurements with a reasonably tight range would be fine.
I would want an expert to examine it and give feedback as well as some images based on the GIA numbers.
There is a good chance it is just fine.

I or even J or lower is fine with many people.
Some people anything lower than H looks off to them and for a very small group of people they need something F or better.
Which is why a return/refund/upgrade policy is so important.
You can not tell for sure it is the right diamond until one has spent a few days with it in their own environment.

This is a stone I would personally want images for, both photographs and ideal scope, if possible.

Color: Have you compared in person? It depends on too many things to make a recommendation.

Color is totally personal. But I color is the color that I can easily see the tint in the lower I colors. So the only way I could buy an I color unseen is if the vendor can check the color compared to other I color stones and determine that it is a high I color with little tint. I have seen both. For this reason, I normally stick to H and higher.

Numbers look great and I would not worry about color in an "I"colored stone personally and with a VS clarity..its indeed a clean stone. A VG vs. EX in Polish - you will not be able to visually see the difference and is perfectly fine.
Definitely get images of the stone, looks promising!

So based on the HCA, I thought that the cut and dimensions of this stone looked good...I am a little confused when people are saying that it may be too shallow? What makes you think that?

This stone is from one of the out of state suppliers for a local jeweler, so I do not know if I can get images or idealscope images.

Should I go for it?

I'd say.. go for it.. :appl:

See the diamond in person and also get it checked by your local jeweler/ gemologist but before that make sure you check their return policy, shipping charges & refund policy.

The numbers and the knowledge that GIA rounds (crown to nearest 0.5deg, pav up to nearest 0.2 deg) indicate that it's a possibility. Can't tell you more about whether or not it's a concern with this specific stone without more info than what's provided on the report. What is LGF?

Depends. If there is a good return policy (money back for any reason, make sure you understand all fees/expenses you may incur up-front - shipping costs, etc., get it in writing) I don't see the downside, it looks promising and HCA indicates that it "is worth further investigation".
