1.75 C Round Opinions

Hello all, was looking for input/opinions on the stone below. I have 2 pictures of it, and one comparison to a stone without fluoro.


Size 1.70 C
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
CUT,Clarity,Polish:Excellent
GIA Graded
Strong Blue fluor.
Depth: 62
Table:56
Crown Angle :35
Pavilion Angle: 40.8

Any feedback would be much appreciated. The comparison photo is of a slightly smaller diamond with F color but VS1, no fluor. The diamond in questions is on the right. My concern was the Blue Fluor. causing cloudyness.

Looks fine.

Stone on the left seems to not be as good as the one on the right, looks like it has a steeper pavilion and is losing brilliance under the table as it tilts.

Thanks Julie! I asked for a comparison from the jeweler so that i could see if i could notice the fluorescence, but it doesn't seem to show in that photo. Just wanting to make sure i get a quality diamond for that amount of money.

you need sunlight, not indoor light. usually you can see strong blue fluoro outside.

Your jeweler should easily be able to assess the stone for any negative impact due from fluorescence. Make sure that you are purchasing with a full money back refund in case your assessment of the stone differs from his.

Congrats on starting your ering search. I check for cloudiness outside, will the jeweler let you do the comparison outside, so that you can see what a non cloudy stone is suppose to look like? One of my first stones was med. blue. It was a gorgeous stone most of the time, but in outside light and some inside light it looked terrible. I didn't have anything to compare it to with me, when we took it outside to check it out. (I was new to diamond buying and had NO idea how it was suppose to look) I hope it turns out to be a winner, because it looks like a nice stone, and it's a substantial size too. (Just curious, it's a gorgeous "F" color, are you getting Fl. for any special reason, since you don't need to make the stone look whiter?)

Thank you so much for your response. I actually have not seen the diamond in person. Only the pictures that you see above. I am concerned about not being able to tell what a Blue Fluoro stone is supposed to look like outside. So i think the best course of action is to check out the referenced material above regarding blue fluoro and then ask him to take pictures of it outside?

I wasn't hunting for a stone with strong blue fuoro...it just happend to fall in my price range at around $18k. Im wondering now if i should be concerned with the it, since it is a F color already. The company does indeed have a money back guarantee.

What is cloudiness? Most people here always talk about cloudiness without defining it.

Almost all diamonds with fluorescence look cloudy to some degrees under UV lighting. The glowing effect in itself makes the diamond appear milky.

I agree, and am guilty of not knowing exactly what "cloudiness" is. It has been thrown around a lot, which scares me when spending that kind of money, which is why I have requested to see the stone in sunlight. I actually think a blue glow to the stone in direct sunlight would look pretty. In doors, however, I would want it to be white and clear, which apparently it is.

To me cloudiness is a milky look. Which, from what I have read could also be caused from several other things besides Fl. It is sooo confusing picking out a diamond for the first time. Maybe there is a thread with a picture of a milky stone next to a clear one.

FF87, wait and see your stone in person, it probably is lovely. Many here love FL, so maybe you will too.
