Hi All,

I''m in quite a dilemma. I am stuck between these two stones. I have seen the 1.63 in person; the diamond sparkles, but I can obviously see the inclusions considering it''s an SI2.

The 1.65 I found online, which is slightly bigger, and over $500 cheaper! I obviously can''t see it in person until I purchase it, but could some of you educated members comment on which I should purchase?

Thank you so so so so much!

Sounds like the online stone is a better deal all around. Now that I''ve seen how much I save purchasing online, I rarely buy anything in person. However, what is the return policy should it not meet your standards?

You said the inclusions were visible in the stone you saw locally. How do you feel about that? The GIAs don''t show the listed inclusions but the one online states that twinning wisps and surface graining is not shown. You can ask the online place to inspect the stone for you and you can have it sent to you for inspection. You should be able to return the stone if it is unacceptable. The only real way you know for sure is if you look yourself under different lighting. I wouldn''t be surprised if the online stone had visible inclusions.

Are you sure you want a stone with visible inclusions?

both have nice numbers. inclusions in one si2 may be ''better'' (less visible) than in the other.. can have vendor check online stone. size difference will not be visible even side to side.

I would have the online stone sent to an appraiser near you, and take the B&M diamond too, and then compare them both. It will cost a little money, but being able to compare is a good idea.

Some Si2s are better than others. You can find one''s where you can only see the inclusions in very limited lighting conditions or very close up (I have one, as does Yssie). If the inclusions are very easy to see I would pass and look for a better SI2, if that is the clarity grade you need to maintain to fit your budget and other desires.

See if the online vendor can supply you with an Idealscope image for the first diamond, also check to make sure it is eyeclean and make sure you have a solid return policy to give you time to thoroughly inspect the stone to make sure it is eyeclean to you.
