1.55 modern cushion in engraved filigree setting

My guy proposed while we were on vacation last week! I am very happy, and I wanted to share some photos of my ring. It is not exactly what I wanted, and I may have been a *touch* dramatic about it before I actually saw it .

I wanted an old-cut stome with big, chunky facets--which this is not, but now that I have it on my finger, I am really growing to love it. It is very lively and sparly--throwing rainbow colors in all lighting. It even sparkles in the dark! It's really mesmerizing and I am thrilled to death to wear it as a symbol of our committment.

We got back from vacation and I was back at work the next day, so I haven't had time to get any good photos, but here are some crappy camera phone pics to hold you over!

diamond is a 1.55ct modified brilliant cushion

not sure of the exact measurements, but I think its 6.39mm x 6.39mm (faces up a bit small)

setting is custom-made unplated 18k white gold , 4mm thick

ring size is 6.75

Modern cushions seem to be one of the most disliked shapes on PS, so I feel like it's a bit of a red headed stepchild, but stay posted--I'll work on getting some good photos of how pretty she can be! I'm also just really excited to finally be engaged, and I love that my guy worked so hard to design the ring and choose the stone.

Thanks! I'm already having a bit of anxiety over the wedding--3 of my good friends already have wedding dates in 2012 and one is in Hawaii and the other in Sweden, so I don't know how I will work out all the time off!

I am really excited to try on wedding bands with it! I love Singlestone, and my guy's a May baby, so I may want to incorporate emeralds in the design.

You can't go wrong with Singlestone. And emeralds in a Singlestone ring would be delicious!!!

Oh, how pretty!!! I love the engraved setting!!! And a well cut modern cushion certainly is a beautiful diamond!

(I hate to be a downer on one thing, but I would hesitate to put emeralds in a wedding band. They are more fragile stones and can't be cleaned the same way as diamonds, and it would make me crazy not to be able to use hot water and an ultrasonic to keep my wedding band sparkly clean! Maybe an extra band with emeralds for occasional wear or even a surprise emerald in the shank????)

You're not being a debbie downer at all, diamondseeker! I actually didn't know emeralds couldn't withstand everyday wear , so thank you!! I thought sapphires, emeralds and rubys were ok! Maybe I could get an eternity band with emeralds and a simple engraved gold band and I could save the eternity band for special occasions. I love this one:

And maybe I could get a less expensive bands to stack with the diamond band occasionally? I LOVE Gypsy's Dover diamond and emerald band, and the price is great!
