I'd reach out to either Jon at Distinctive gems or Diamonds By Lauren with your desired specs and budget to see what they could do for you!
Or, if you want to share your budget and desired specs, I'm sure there are people here that would love to help you find the right set of diamonds.![]()
Thank you. I am open to suggestion on budget but want ideal cut. One of my questions on the lab made diamonds is there is a wide range of priced for seemingly comparable quality stones and that is confusing. Also, should I pick a jeweler that has a trade in policy where I could get earth created stones should I change my mind down the road?
That is true, there is a wide range for seemingly comparable cuts . Blue nuance, brown undertones, stria that causes haziness in the diamond, and other issues may not be disclosed on grading certificates, which is why buying from a trusted vendor can be worth a litte more money for peace of mind.
Lightbox finest diamonds in 2ct will be $3,200 each , so $6,400 plus setting. They will be DEF in color and VVS in clarity, and while "excellent" cut, that definition has a wide range, and since the stones are not individually graded, you won't *really* know what you are getting. Many of the diamonds they are rolling out right now seem to be well cut and many are delighted with them. Perhaps as long as they look good to your eyes, that is all that matters. If the uncertainty bothers you, then having indivdually certified stones is the route to take.
As far as picking a jeweler that will allow trade in of lab grown for earth mined if you change your mind, I cannot help you there. In my mind, if the lab grown pair meets all the criteria for size, color, clarity, and cut that you want, why would you ever trade them in for something that will look exactly the same and end up costing you even more? (This is speaking for myself, no judgement towards others who want to go from lab grown to earth mined, do what makes you happy!)
Mind clean is a thing though, so if you really think you would prefer earth mined, perhaps starting with a smaller pair of ACA's from Whiteflash that you can upgrade any time for as little as $1 would be better.
That said, James Allen does have a lifetime upgrade policy that appeals to many:
" Lifetime Upgrade
Any loose diamond purchased from James Allen can be exchanged at 100% credit for any replacement diamond of at least 2X or greater value. The diamond that is being upgraded must be in original condition and accompanied by the original laboratory grading document. "
Moissanite is really only an option if your goal is just to have large, white, sparkly earrings while keeping the cost to a minimum.
DG has a better lifetime upgrade than JA at 1.5%. I would check with both to ensure you can upgrade lab for mined.
I decided I didn’t want to pay 9k+ for lab made diamonds and settled for a pair of Lightbox 1 3/4 (3.5 tcw) each stones. No earrings availbke but I will have them set in a martini white gold setting. The Finest quality wasn’t available in the bigger sizes. Thanks for the help.
