Hi everyone- I've been looking around this forum for the past year (like many). I've finally decided on the diamond below and would appreciate everyone's thoughts?

BGD 1.208 I VS2
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.208-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-bl-104063998003

Initially I wanted to purchase a G/H color diamond. But I'm now leaning towards "I" color because per phone call with Denise at BGD, I believe the general audience cannot distinguish the difference between a G/H to I. Also, because of the ideal cut, I believe (from research), it would show less of the color. I plan to accompany this with a Platinum Classic Tiffany style knife ring

Ive noticed that it only received a 2.0 on the HCA calculator but if its a signature diamond, I assumed its "spark and shine" will still be top tiered?

I have a BG Blue I and it's a great performer! With AGS0 stones, they are already evaluated for light performance, so you don't run the HCA on them.

Forget the hca. People get obsessed with it unnecessarily. Looking at the ASET is sufficient to tell you more than idealscope and HCA combined.

This is a great diamond.

It looks great! I personally like a smaller table (55ish) but it looks great in images and I don't think you need to obsess over a 2.0 on the HCA.

(HCA is used for GIA Excellent cut stones because that is a much broader category than AGS Ideal.)

Fluorescence in I color is a great thing and I am sure the diamond will be gorgeous!!! :appl:

Great choice! I recent purchased a very, very similar stone and could not be happier with it. Everyone who has seen it has been amazed by it, and the lavender glow in direct sunlight is absolutely beautiful!

I have a BGB 1.23 I SI1 with almost the same cut. Same 58.2 table, 60.9 depth vs your 61.0, same 34.9 crown angle and 40.9 pavilion angle. The only real differences are VS2/SI1 and Medium/Strong fluorescence. I can confidently say you are making a great decision if you go with that stone.

if you dont mind me asking- what was the approx price you paid for yours? I was actually looking for a I S1 but they only had Vs2 or Vs1 in stock.

I paid around $7500, but this was a couple of months ago. I've been monitoring the BG Blue inventory ever since, and not only did I notice that the prices have gone up, but that the SI1 BGB stones seem to get gobbled up as quickly as they appear, especially in the I/J colors. I'd consider yourself lucky to have reserved that stone and jump all over it, assuming it fits in your budget and you were ideally looking for an I SI1 stone. Finding an I SI1 stone might save you 2 or 3 percent over VS2, but the prices could increase by that much in the time you're looking for one anyway, and at least at VS2 you can be comfortable that it will be 100% eye-clean.
