1.19 CARAT K-SI1 EMERALD CUT DIAMOND - Great Deal or too good to be true?

This stone cost $1440, which seems extremely cheap. My future fiance's chief diesires for an engagement ring were emerald cut (likes how it matches her nail beds), and rose gold (likes how it looks against her skin). With the rose gold setting, I felt fine going with a warmer stone. At S1, you can see from that it's eye clean. Is there something I am missing why this stone would be this price? Or did I get a good deal?

Kind of irrelvant, but setting link: https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...shank-halo-diamond-engagement-ring-item-67355

It’s a KSI1. This would drop the price tag for an EC, fairly, but I can not imagine to that extent.
What are the Clarity Characteristics...in order, please?
This is perplexing, as it’s almost at a “giveaway” price. The Cert isn’t even 2 years old.
From the photos, either that stone is picking up the black surroundings, or it’s very dark under certain conditions.
It appears it’s cut deep.
This would explain the increased price drop:

The price is definitely too good to be true. Unless you have examined this stone in person, and you find it flashes bright, and moves in step formation, even on a cloudy day, I’d advise you to pass and keep looking.

I have the stone in my posession, in the above setting. Those are my pictures. I recieved it yesterday, so I still have plenty of time to return it. I don't know if the pics I took do it justice, but it looks good, and of a good size, in the setting. I figured it was a little deep, but don't feel like I am losing out on a hidden size, as the previous carats I was considering where in the .95-1.05 range, or so. I even stumbled upon this one by accident, as I weighted a day (not even a full one) to purchase a different one, and it was already sold, and I mistyped my search criteria (put in 1.5 instead of 1.05) and this stone came up, as I was sorted by price.

Sometime after I purchased it I did the JA consult chat thing, and while she admitted it was an "amazing" price, nothing jumped out at her outside of the things already mentioned (depth, color, clarity), but she works for the company selling the diamond..... She did seem kind of shocked at the price, too, for this stone.

Here is a visual comparison of your selected stone against an “average” EC at the same carat weight:

JA is reputable. But, it never hurts to get outside opinion.

ETA: The only concern that I would have with this stone and the way that it is set is the fact that it is already deep, and you have a halo. Which means that you are blocking imperative light absorption, and restricting the performance of this stone. Step cuts play on light differently then brilliant cuts do. The fact that it does appear dark in your pictures, in regular lighting circumstances, flags me that this stone is going to look dark when she wears it in every day life.
The halo may even overshadow the center.

I want to share with you a real life experience of my own, as I have an emerald cut engagement ring.
My DH and I went on a business trip to Arizona, in February 2018. There were just a few of us who had the opportunity to go; it was DH’s business colleagues and their wives.
One of his colleagues’ wives has an emerald cut engagement ring. She and I were the only two out of our party with that cut.
There were multiple times during our trip where we were all together, and I observed her stone is larger than mine, but it is not as bright, and does not perform on the same level.
Throughout our entire week-long experience, I was the only one of the two of us who received complement after complement after complement on my engagement ring.
My emerald cut diamond is not small by any means (it’s 1.07ct), but hers far outweighed mine (has to be around the 2ct mark). Mine out flashed, and out sparkled hers.
This will matter to your future wife.

Take some extra time that you know you have to play with it in certain lighting environments (ie: spotlighting and outside on a cloudy day), and make sure that this is really the ring that you want her to wear...potentially, forever.
You have the advantage over all of us because you can see it in real life.
I wish you well, and hope this ring brings you both a lifetime of joy.
Looking forward to hand picks and your story, after it’s all said & done.

As to the price, you never know the circumstances. I got an good deal on a beautiful James Allen engagement ring several years ago because the person selling it had extenuating circumstances and just needed to get what they could right away. (She only offered that detail after I asked).
It was her first eBay listing and I was willing to take the risk, so I was the only bidder.
I sent the ring to JA to have it reset, and they changed the paperwork to my name, so I can always use the ring for an upgrade.

There are the occasional sweet deals,
I hope this ring is one of those deals and works out for you!
In that case you might ask if you can become the registered owner.

Ps. In the third photo it looks very nice. I would give it a good cleaning to be sure of what level of performance it has.

It's overcast here, and I am of sneaking to take these pics because she is in the house, this one is in the parking lot frkm when I picked it up from FedEx. Also overcast. The original pics I tooks in a dimly lot room at work.

I didn't take a pic, but under the lamp posts in the parking lot at work, it had a very interesting sparkle. It does get a little datker at one angle, but it plays against the brighter haoo, and then as it moves from a different angle it outshines the halo, and also catches light differently, different colors of the rainbow as you move it.

I think the way the setting, as can be seen in the profile pic above, had the stone up high enough that it still gets a lot of light, despite being on the deep side of the depth chart received_248496499824445.jpeg

Keep it out of rooms with dark walls...lol!!
EC’s pick up color from their environment.
These more open photos do it more justice!
It’s beautiful!

Great pictures! I’m no expert on ECs but it seems to me you got an amazing deal on a gorgeous ring! I
hope she loves it! When do you plan on giving it to her? I’d love to see modeling pics.

Probably this Thursday, since the consensus seems to be great deal, so far. Every single month, since our first date, I give her flowers. I haven't given her flowers in May, yet. I stumbled upon this fake rose from Amazon while looking for slim ring boxes. Serendipitous, I believe, since her maiden name is "Noble", and also due to our flowers tradition. I am going to hide the ring inside the bouquet of flowers. Now if she doesn't notice one of the flower is fake right away, then I don't know. Maybe the proposal extends until they start to wilt?:???::)

@macjr82 , this is so sweet! Giving her flowers every month and now with the proposal. I love the idea. Please let us know how it goes and handshots please!

I hope I can get some, the best won't be for a while. She's a huge nails/hand person. One of the things she first noticed on me were my hands and cut/clean nails. She ritually goes to the salon every couple of weeks. Her hands are nice, to the point her salon often photographs them for their portfolio after they do her nails. In looking at other people's handshots, she's often critical if their nails aren't done, like showing new growth, and how it takes away from the presentation. And of course, as karma would have it, she hasn't been able to get her nails done for almost 3 months due to the quarantine, and is devastated at the condition of her nails.:lol: Feeling her out a month ago, she would have probably turned down the proposal just over them. But she's been seeing other quarantine proposals online and getting jealous. lol

I reckon it will be a knuckle handshot.

Here is the ring in fake rose I took while at work. The box is a little banged up. I have been carrying the fake rose in my work bag since I recieved it from Amazon last week, now adding the ring. I will pick up a bouquet the day of the proposal. 98078705_559431094715203_8709940573865246720_n.jpg 98361926_2974866759300149_4869299028719828992_n.jpg 98488483_687406982072025_6566468249226051584_n.jpg 100323506_4001676246539875_7881950323206520832_n.jpg

I personally believe the ring is nice and the OP has bagged a real bargain!

Mine is also a 1.19ct, however it is an E VS1 and I paid considerably more in 2004, selected in person from Diamondhouse in Antwerp!

Thanks for sharing, and congratulations in your forthcoming proposal.

DK :))

So after dropping all kind of hints, she still didn't see the fake rose. lol So what I did was pull the fake rose from the bouquet, and dropped to one knee revealing the ring and asked her to marry me.

Her first reaction was overwheled crying, nodded yes, but the first words she could muster were "I look horrible!!!" lol
