hello everyone,

I have been reading these forums for months but this will be my first posting. I am currently looking at a diamond with the following specs and would like to hear your opinions.

1.03ct, D colour, IF

Ex Ex Ex in cut polish and symmetry

No Flourescnece, Thin girdle, No culet

6.59 to 6.61 mm in diameter

Depth: 59.7, Table: 57, Crown: 33.5, Pavilion: 40.8

Holloway results:

Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Excellent

I''ll be looking at $28K AUD. What do you think?

numbers look good.

is D IF important to you specifically?

ditto

yssie, Stone-cold11 thanks for your replies.

Yes D colour and IF is a priority. A gift for my mum and I know she has been looking specifically at a 1ct D colour IF ~6.5mm diameter diamond :)

D IF sprinkled with all of those EXs are a great combination.

Then you might have found your diamond, although we can''t tell for sure without images, the numbers suggest it could be well worth further consideration.

Thank you all for your responses.

Further to my thread, a similar diamond was recommended to me by Whiteflash

USA Round 1.17 D IF EX EX EX GIA N 61.7% 57% 6.75-6.77x4.17 $2450.00USD

Holloway results:
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 0.9 - Excellent
within TIC range

But there is a HUGE difference in price? The diamond I mentioned in my first post will set me back $28K AUD and this one only $2663.88AUD. Is there something Im missing?

AUD$ equals how many US dollars?

Do you have a GIA certificate for this new stone?

Aussie stones usually cost more, not sure if the import taxes is factor in.

Stones here in Australia tend to cost considerably more than the US equivalent, especially if you are talking about a retail store. I believe this is mainly due to our relatively small market.

There are no import taxes on loose stones, but GST (10%) will be payable before customs will let it in.
$Au is reasonably strong at the moment and will buy ~$0.9US

Firestone - 2,450.00 US Dollars = 2,663.88 Australian Dollars where 1 USD = 1.0873 AUD. The representative also included a scanned copy of the GIA report in the email.

Stone-cold11 - The 1.03ct diamond will be imported from America. How much are taxes?

$2500 for an over 1ct diamond? That price is really low. Are you sure no typo with a decimal place?

Here is your taxes answer.

For that savings I would just order the WF diamond and if you really don''t like it, send it back. There are usually even forms with customs to get taxes back.

WF usually will provide IS images of diamonds they bring in. Will they do so for this one?

thanks everyone.

the email does show $2450.00USD

it must be missing a 0.

for a split second I thought I came across something spectacular! lol
