I cannot believe that this post is number 1000 for me. Of course it is small by comparison to others.
I have been on this forum since 2004. I have learned so much from people. I am so happy that I found this forum and used the expertise to buy my wife's ER, and then go on to buy other diamonds for her and my daughter from PS vendors.
People on this forum give so much time and effort to help others, you know who you are and I am thankful for that.
On another note......I used to ride the bus into NYC to work when I lived in NJ on a daily basis. There was one woman in my town who I used to sit next to. We spoke about many things, she worked in the Diamond district in NYC (47th St). I moved out of NJ over 10 years ago and have not seen her since, until I was at a concert last week and bumped into her. She is semi-retired, but she told me that many of the old time jewelers on 47th St are closing up shop because the Internet companies are killing them. Lower prices and better service. Many of the jewelers on 47th St have bad reputations so perhaps they have little repeat business. I have not walked down 47th St. in a long time but I use to hate walking down the street and people would hawk me and try for me to come into their stores. One guy used to tell me he was wholesale and all the other guys were retail. After walking down the street I felt I had to take a shower to get the slime off of me. We know, they are not all this way, but was an interesting comment from this woman who has been in the business a long time.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, but appreciate and thank all who have helped me in the past.
