There are no apartments listed for $1m in our area of Manhattan (SoHo). I imagine that amount would get you a one-bed in a nice condo, and two-bed in a less ritzy building.

Yikes--that big house is on a teensy tiny lot! (7975 sq. ft.)
I can''t believe they were allowed to build such a big structure in such a small space.
Ooooh. Thanks for this link! I was able to snoop & check out a house my sister is considering in Arlington. She drove me by the outside but I had to guess about price -- now I know ...Date: 7/21/2009 8:28:03 AM

This is what you get in my area of northern VA - a nice, but not ridiculous, 5 bed 4.5 bath:

Tell me about it - and you can get a lot less in Arlington for $1mil than you can in Reston - we''re about 10 miles away. I know because we were living in Arlington (renting) when I got pregnant, and then when we went house shopping, we decided that we couldn''t afford anything that we both liked unless we moved to Reston. I would have loved one of the new luxury townhouses in Arlington, but DH insisted on single-family - so here we are. The only single-families we saw in Arlington in our price range generally only had 1.5 baths, street parking, and no basement. DH just needed a basement and a garage, and I sure as heck didn''t want to have to share a bathroom when company came to townDate: 7/21/2009 10:25:41 PM

I am not a fan of SF homes or living in SF (too cold, brrr I am an inland girl)... but that is a beautiful home and honestly I would pay $950k for that over half of what passes for $950k over in SJ! Love the little courtyard.Date: 7/23/2009 2:49:15 PM

Did you see these Mara? our GPS sent us on this street while we were out thre; I guess it was rush hour so it was a detour which was fine by me because it was pretty to see. I love the big trees in this neighborhood; we have similar on my street. I do love San Francisco though, gorgeous house Swingirl & lovesvintage.Date: 7/23/2009 5:10:23 PM
