how about the fact that the GIA report says the girdle is from "very thin" to "medium," but the megascope report says "thin" with 1.0% to 1.5%? i read in previous posts that "very thin" girdles are prone to chipping. i also read that hen there are discrepancies between GIA measurements and megascope measurements, GIA measurements rule. what's going on here? thanks.

Most times, Megascope uses AGS criteria. Often GIA 'very thin' = AGS 'thin', so that's the explanation. According to GIA, a part of the girdle of your diamond is v.thin, but according to AGS is thin.
Also, don't forget that not all the machine are the same, so a negligible difference is acceptable. Maybe your dealer's machine needs calibration??!
Why don't you try to call the dealer and have him describe the girdle for you??
