what shall cost on 1.0 carat F/SI1/3XXX cut GIA ? My friend offered me $6600 without setting. It is a good deal? haven't look at the stone personally.

Yes, he is a jeweler. But i'm not sure he had or not a upgrade policy. He is in NYC. I can ask him next time when we talk. :loopy:

Buying from friends is a recipe for a disaster, honestly. We've seen it COUNTLESS times here, men taken advantage of by family jeweler friends (though to be fair, perhaps the jewelers themselves are ill informed of their own business and are unknowingly selling dud stones).

GIA XXXs are not all equal. Ask for an ASET or Idealscope to judge the light performance of this stone before committing to purchase it.

Can you get an idealscope as well? The certificate doesn't tell the whole story.
I would prefer to buy from James Allen where you can ask for an idealscope or ASET (or other similar vendor)
