Hi All,

After a long wait, finally hear from them. I will receive the idealscope image in the next hour.

As for asking Juilianna to check eyecleaness of the diamond.

They reply '' Eye clean from all angles. Julianna had a hard time even seeing inclusions under magnification.''

When i asked if there are any comments from Juilianna, the lady said,

'' I assume because there were none to give, at least negatively.  Remember that you are considering an ''ideal'' cut diamond, depth/table/symmetry/polish are right where you would want them to be for this shape.  You should be 100% confident in the eye-cleanliness of this diamond. ''

...

Just this standard reply does raise my eye-brow.

Any thoughts ?

I wish I won''t loose the 20% ( tax, delivery ) in case it doesn''t work out.

QUESTIONS:
1. by searching on forum, in case I am not happy with eye-cleaness, i can get back the 15% tax from UK custom ? - of course hassle of paper work, I will imagine.
2. I have one day to decide whether to buy it or not.. any comments on the ideal scope image ..

Many many thanks to all for your warm, and helpful replies all way around. !
Hopefully, it will be the one !

Gemma, the image looks great! I take it from the ''eyecleanliness'' issue that the rep in question was trying to assure you that the diamond is well cut in one sentence, then saying that you should be confident in Julianna''s assessment in the other concerning any visible inclusions. As it would appear you have great vision, to be absolutely sure I would call and ask to speak to Julianna herself and explain the situation that a VS diamond has not worked out for you before and that the diamond would be sent overseas, therefore you want to make as sure as you can without seeing the diamond yourself, that nothing is visible.

Thanks Lorelei !

I have asked about it, apparently, Juilianna''s only free to take phone appoint on Tuesday, and the diamond cannot be held for me that long... i have until the end of today to decide..

hmm..
I think i have emphasis enough that I have good vision, and it''s important to be eye clean from close range to me.
I guess, really not much more they could tell me..... even I talked to Juilianna, she''ll probably tell me the same thing.

... glad to hear it the IS image looks good !..
It does look somehow not that symmetry from the size of white spots ? probably I read it the wrong way.

Do i get tax return of the 15% ( i am in UK ) in case I need to return it back to US ?

You can claim the import duty and VAT back, but lose out on FedEx''s admin charge. Here is the link to HMRC website explaining the import duty and VAT, (not sure if im allowed, if not please could admin remove the link)

Import duty, section 8.12 for mail ordered goods

VAT

Hope its useful.

Got some info for you Gemma,

In the case that a purchaser wishes to return a diamond, they can apply to customs for a refund for the charges they paid minus any admin costs charged by the shipping company. It depends on how long they have had the diamond and apparently it is a case by case decision. You would need to phone the customs helpline for the form and they should be able to answer any further questions.

Thanks ! This is really helpful.

One last question, the white areas around the inner circle, they are off different shape, does it mean it''s not very symmetry ?
Could you give me some guidance on how to read the image ?
I looked at the reference charts, it looks like between the excellent and very good.
Am I right ?

The white areas are fine and are controlled leakage points which aid contrast and scintillation in a diamond - it is a good image. This tutorial is excellent for learning more about Idealscope and ASET images,
