Firstly - thank you everyone for all the glorious advice on this forum. I've really enjoyed looking at the amazing bling posted and the enormous amounts of expertise on here. I've been reading pretty much every color / stud post on here and it's been sooooooo helpful!

I've been trying out some CZs & decided that for me 4.5mm diameter studs would be great for me dinky ears. My e-ring is an F colour which I LOVE. When we shopped around I would have gone for a H color but DH wouldn't let me upgrade size for color :(

However, we are now looking at Stud Earrings as a push present (baby due in 10 weeks and we are really really excited!) & I was wondering if we should match the color F or save $500 and get us some H/I color stones? It's not a huge difference in the grand scheme of things but with the upgrade potential from BGD, leaving some leeway in the color would help for any potential upgrades too !

I ultimately want them to look like these http://cinematicshadows.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/house-of-cards-robin-wright.jpg as she's my style icon!

Any advice welcome and Thank you for reading this post!

Personally, I don't think it's necessary to go for a higher colour in the earrings, they're not near enough to your hand for anyone to notice they're different.

I've just had a pair of earrings made from a trilogy ring, I thought they'd look tiny in my ears, because one is .32 and the other is .36. The jeweller suggested a soft rub over setting (in platinum) and I'm really thrilled with how they've turned out. Mine are H/I colour.

Thanks for posting pics - I LOVE those Bezels & size on you! They do look Icy white. Maybe I should save my $$$'s on baby things.....

My diamonds are ungraded, but the jeweller and I estimated they're probably SI1/2, but in the platinum setting, they're WOW, look really white and sparkly.

I don't know where you're based, but if you're ever thinking that you'll want bigger in the future, look for a vendor that has a good upgrade policy.

I think mine are perfect for wearing everyday, and I'm really pleased I've made use of what was an unworn ring. The biggest diamond I've had made into a slider pendant. :D

I'm based in the UK. Have looked at WF and BGD.. BGD have more options in the size I like (and cheaper settings) but WF seem to have the better policy for upgrading!

At present BGD has better options for me. The lower color will give me more potential for upgrades when DSS sinks in lol!! That's a real benefit I think on top of the savings =)2

I think that choosing H/I color diamonds is a great option for your soon-to-be studs as that would get you more diamond for a lower price. I would probably stay at H color, just so they are not very different color wise than your e-ring. I think at I color is where you might start seeing some differences, but H would be totally fine. I have purchased from BGD multiple times and have always been super happy. If I am you, I would probably go with something like this pair:

Thank you @SimoneDi I had been looking closer to the .35 carat mark per stud but actually theres a pair of FSI1s similar priced to your HVS2

I think the difference in mm between a 0.32 and 0.35 will be fairly negligible so maybe that's not a bad option

Lower color, save a few bucks & use it for diapers...trust me, you'll go through more diapers than ever...lol!! The upgrade policy allows for future fun!!
Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!!!

This made me LOL! I'm in baby denial at the moment which is why I'm obsessing over diamond studs! Thank you for the congrats & yes diapers.. I'll need lots and lots of diapers!

The F color is a gorgeous pair as well! Size wise the difference is negligible in my view, but why not go for F and lesser clarity! You won't notice any inclusions in that size and specially not on your ears!

Another dissenting opinion. I'd go for the fsi1 pair. They are pretty clean and a lovely match.

Sorry, I didn't notice that. Looking forward to seeing what you get.

And they've arrived! I chose ~0.35 each so 0.70 TCW F diamonds from BGD Black in the end in a 4 prong martini - new friends for my 1.72 F Victor Canera Ideal Hearts E-ring. I have small ears so these do look good but have debated getting larger ones. They are beautiful and Brian Gavin have been a delight to deal with!
