I was told it was Alexandrite. From the story I was told by my mother, my grandfather got the ring and two earrings in Alaska in the 1920's from an Eskimo that told him it was Russian. It is about the size of a US dime. My grandfather was in the Coast Guard for 33 years and in Alaska for many years. The colors change from a green to a deep red, but photographs as purplish. There is three markings on the inside of the ring. two seem to have 14K and the one pictured seems to be an anchor, but it is worn a little. There is nothing special about the band. It is plain gold.

ANDDDDDDDD today's right hand rings... 18K white gold filigree with OMC diamond and what I *think* are demantoid garnets, and 14K white gold filigree with .40ct OEC (family heirloom). Can you tell I kind of have a thing for white gold filigree?

I gave the mourning ring to my niece for her birthday this year and it was in mint condition.

Here are mine.

One is a 0.80ct H VS OEC in a modern version of a buttercup mount. The diamond came like that in the buttercup mount, but looking at it, I think it is modern, though the inner head that holds the stone may be original. The ring is now my mom's engagement ring!

Next up is my 0.97ct I VS2 OEC in its original mount, which I think is a period mount. Unfortunately, it was really not a nice ring. The filigree was so badly done (not cast well) an the ring had been badly reshanked. I seset the stone into a modern fishtail style solitaire in white gold. The diamond looks much better!

Vintage-y 9 carat yellow gold rings bought off eBay from the UK. 1982 stamp on the sapphire “boat ring,” and not sure about the emerald ring, but it does have a stamp that indicates mid-late 70’s at the earliest. Repro rings that I’m having fun with!

40’s era Matched Perfection wedding set I got for my fiancé. We found the E-ring on eBay from a seller in California who thought he bought it from a Beverly Hills pawn shop many years ago. After we received it and researched we found it was supposed to have a matching band. 4 months later, a seller on eBay from Utah had what we believed was the marching band with moving attachment to connect to the E-ring. We received it yesterday and it is indeed the match and we now have a complete set. Very happy and we love it Nothing like Vintage!

So many antique pretties!

Dreamer- those are beauties! One day I'm going to come across "the one" of the OEC I really like! Those look just the right size!
Logan- I love the delicate contrast between your ering and shaped band- beautiful!
Stci- love the look of that center stone peeping out like a starburst!

I have a few to join in with. Mine aren't all diamond, but have diamond in them (mostly). Hope that's ok.

On my ring finger is my promise ring from my bf who got it for me because I smooshed the band on the other one (we know better now than to shop at the mall). English ring from first half of the 1800's in rose cut diamond and sugarloaf sapphire, so around 200 years old, give or take a few years. The sapphire is most likely not original. When we found it we were both intrigued by it (and it exactly matched the shirt he was wearing that day).

Then my opal and white stone ring, age unknown. A gift from my father, who used to deal in vintage/estate jewelry.

Diamond and enamel cocktail ring I bought about 20 years ago, maybe from the 50's? The diamond is maybe 15-18pts. It doesn't quite fit any more but those tall prong are amazing!

Vintage (possibly Art Deco?) snake ring with rubies and pearl. (Another one that needs sizing nowadays...ho hum...)

Diamond and emerald pendant, also from my father.

My attempt at a reproduction!!

I couldn't find enough matched oec diamonds for the halo so I added 4 modern brilliants with the hope to replace them later on.
Ooo I love it!

Oooh!!! love, love, love these!
And welcome to PS!

Thank you! Sometimes I am ashamed because I do not know much about these rings, I just know that they are all vintage and beautiful! Do you have any ideas about the time period of the turquoise ring and blue enamel ring?

I could be way off, but the turquoise looks 1950's-1960's to me. The starburst/nuclear motif was everywhere.
