Can’t make it to NYC to see “Set in Style” at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum? Martha Teichner brings the Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry exhibition to you with an informative CBS News video. The exhibition, which has been extended to July 4, showcases over 350 pieces of Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, objets d’art, and timepieces.
The “Walska Briolette Diamond” Brooch was created by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1971. The brooch/pendant features a yellow diamond briolette weighing 96.62 carats. The bird’s wings detach to become earrings, and the tail can be removed to be worn as a matching brooch.
Martha Teichner and Sarah Coffin, curator of “Set in Style,” discuss design innovation, celebrity jewels, and the history of Van Cleef & Arpels.
