z-axis contrast(3D), the forgotten aspect of diamond performance.

I am just thinking this thru but rather than finish it up and share maybe we can think this thru together.
Too apply some old terms too diamonds.....

For those that have or have seen older cut designs like oec and high crown asschers and EC's what stands out about the cut?
The height and depth of the crown when viewed from the top.
That is z-axis contrast, or 3D contrast.


Compare and princess cut and an RB which stands out more?

What do the popular high settings add too a diamond?

What do small tables(55) add too a diamond that large(60+) ones dont have?

What does this style setting add too the diamond?

They add 3D contrast...

The difference in appearance within the ideal cut range has very little difference in 3D contrast for the most common combinations (FICs can stand out here)

Pictures compress 3d contrast but in some cases you can show it in pictures.

Here it shows the flatness of the of an ags0 princess cut...

compare that too the in your face attitude of my mixed cut design.

The in your face look of the monster asscher.

conpare that too the TIC reference model.
It is some place between the princess and the asscher in 3D contrast, closer too the princess.

I think its very hard to describe in pictures....
But in real life..., its a whole different story...

kewl that means I''m on the right track.
Its one of those things that is easy too show/explain to someone in person hard to show otherwise.
