Yes! I remember reading the Mallory Towers and wishing I could go to boarding school...and back then there were Golliwogs, which was acceptable back then but not PC now!

I am buying my daughter the Mallory Towers books for christmas. I was so excited by the midnight feasts. Potted salmon and fruit cake!
