Perfect photos actually Missy I just really wanted to gauge the size of both of them.
The pendant is very substantial I love those Belle Époque pendants/brooches but the design of yours and the stones used is particularly beautiful and unusual!
The earrings are gorgeous too I’ve been eyeing up a few pairs that are not dissimilar but sadly they are not cheap! Do you have a rough idea as to the specs?

AWW thanks so much @meely
The earrings are 3 ctw IIRC. And I think i mis wrote earlier. They’re OMCs.

... Does that mean DK can sell a ring that resembles a different ring he already made? That he has the rights to the design? Do you know the answer to this question?
I know no one every wants to step on anyone's toes, but it is rather confusing!

Yes, a jeweler can remake a ring, even if it was a custom job. My Big Blue flower ring has been remade for several different clients.

This is the reason you often see PSers ask their fellow PSers for permission to use their design. We don’t hold the rights to them but it’s still nice to ask first. Most of us are flattered by it anyway.

@elle thank you for explaining that. I did think that the jeweler had that right if you will. Thanks for the clarification :)

I guess another scenario is David offering up an already made setting, a person not knowing it was a setting that had previously been made, and so there is no opportunity to ask.
I am with you, it’s flattering:)
Thanks again!

I adore your wedding band. I love a gold wedding band with milgrain- yours is perfection. Is it 18k? It just looks so lush and rich!
The floral earrings are exquisite. So lovely.
The sapphire wreath ring- that sapphire makes me weak in the knees. That is the reason every girl needs a beautiful gemstone piece in her collection!

My favorite piece, your heart pendant from your Dad. Brings tears to my eyes. There is nothing like a gift from your dad. To have it be such a sentimental gift. That is something money can't buy. He must love his daughter very much. A piece you will treasure your whole life.

Thanks pepperminty for your kind words.
So yes the wedding band is 18k but the colour is very rich, more so than any of my other 18k jewellery.
Regarding the sapphire ring its honestly not the best sapphire, the cut is wonky and it isn’t great in dark conditions, on a bright day it’s perfect though!
Tbh the pendant is a flimsy little thing my Dad’s a bargain hunter so it was no doubt a good price. But it’s a nice everyday size and very easy to wear and yes he does love me very much regardless! It’s actually got my initial on the other side but I don’t love that look so I flip it and wear it back to front!

In all honestly they are different, I think that ring has a different underside to mine but I am pretty sure it was adapted from the same cad. When I had it made at least one person commented it would look nice with a coloured stone and it looks perfect with the pink spinel! Here is my ring, you can see the halo proportions and style are identical! 1580FDAA-0EF8-40A1-AABA-CB9CCCF4EA48.jpeg

For those who are new to having a piece of jewelry made, I doubt copying is likely to make it to court (which is not to say it couldn't). As has been mentioned, in practice it's more likely a courtesy issue.

My feeling is most ring designs have been done to death anyway and are not really all that unique. But still, I'd always use another piece as an "inspiration piece" rather than request a direct copy of it.

Start with a photo of a ring (or whatever) you like. Then just make a few changes, which you might prefer anyway. For ex., a different color, size or shape center stone. Something different about the halo, if there is one, whether stone size, metal color or other details. Then there's the gallery and the band. By the time I get done, it is not a copy of the original but just somewhat similar to it.

My AAAA tanzanite ring 8 x 10mm 2.5 carats (I think)

614960

AAAA Tanzanite pendant I think about 6 carats

614961

4.56 carats natural hot Pink sapphire, 1.25 carats tapered baguette diamonds in platinum. Colour is actually a lot more vivid IRL.
614963

Can’t remember any of the carat weights of my rainbow sapphire collar, bracelet, hoop earrings, double row eternity, and pendant.
614962

2.25 carats G/H VS1 mixed cut diamond bolo bracelet 18K gold
762502

4.56 carat VS1 L OEC in platinum
784183

.75carat I VS1 18k gold
729632

Either 3.5 or 3.6 carats I VS1 in and out hoops. Picture doesn’t do justice to how white and sparkly they are.

@meely - I love this ring, and you know I added it to my PS Hall of Fame thread. Why did it not make it into your top 10? I mean...I LOVE this ring!

@meely it is so rich! That color is just stunning! I was sure you were going to say it was higher than 18k. I wonder how they got that color?! It’s beautiful!
I love that you say that about your sapphire! It just goes to show nature’s work even if not perfection is beautiful in its own right and doesn’t need to be perfection. I can’t take my eyes off of it
It’s that he chose something to clearly show his love for you. It means so much! Melts my heart! Well I adore how you are wearing it. It looks very unique and special.

Ha I know mrs-b that was a proud moment for me! Well I just haven’t been wearing it as much since I got my antique cushion which I can stack a lot more easily plus it’s also got sizing beads in it which I find uncomfortable. The other reason is that it just feels too big and blingy to wear on a day to day basis.
I need to make a decision on what to do with it long term,
- resize it to be right hand ring or ring finger ring and lose the uncomfortable sizing beads but will only be able to wear it on the one finger as the size difference between fingers is significant. A point to note is that I wouldn’t wear it with the cushion as the colour difference and style is too different (modern oval, modern platinum setting, G Colour vs antique cushion, Victorian peach gold, N Colour)
- make it into a pendant east to west (I love pendants and barely have anything)
- make it into a ring that is east to west (but it would need to be engagement rather than right hand as I wouldn’t wear with the cushion).
- sell it
I have got no further with my thoughts for all of that!

I love the idea of the e/w pendant!!!!

Thanks it could look good I think - I will stop derailing this thread now and start another if and when I decide to do something!

Easy peasy! Colored stone center and make it an E/W pendant. Halo or cluster that STUNNING oval (no bezels on the halo/cluster diamonds) and have it as a platinum alternative e-ring.

Best of all worlds!

This collection should come with a fire extinguisher!!

And I have to say, @Rfisher, even now, my heart breaks a little every time I see that emerald heart. It is perfection, in my book.

Re the metal band in the last photo - can you pls tell us a little about it? It's stunning!

And one last request - could you also tell us who made each of your rings?

Thanks, R! :wavey:

Ok, at the risk of being that guest who outstays their welcome - would everyone mind if I had another shot at this? I think I thought we were meant to post our 10 favorite pieces, but on rereading @dk168 original post, it's clear that what she wanted was our 10 heaviest hitters.

Even with that, there's a degree of subjectivity for me, but I think I did a little better this time - as well as having gone outside today and taken all new photos. On the other hand, as ALWAYS, I totally forgot to clean anything before I took the shots, so the photos I'm posting now were mainly chosen - not so much on their artistic merits - as on the absence of finger marks! D'oh!

Ok. So. Let's try again, starting off with a group shot....

The Three Musketeers:

20211024_140119.jpg

My BGD and DKJ collaboration:

20211024_135758.jpg

My Christmas Holly gold (18kt) and ruby pin. I bought the gorgeous rubies at JCK:

20211024_135700.jpg

My opal and diamond drops in 18kt rose gold. I *think* 3/4 ct of 3 point stones - altho maybe 1ctw of 4 pt stones - and 6 gorgeous crystal opals by Msopalworld and Black Opal Direct - both in Australia. Setting by DKJ, as always:

20211024_135526.jpg

My 50th birthday gift from DH. 2 x 14mm South Sea pearls with roughly 1.6ctw of diamonds - rounds by BGD and pears from Blue Nile. Pearls from Pearl Paradise, and sold as triple A South Sea. Set in platinum:

20211024_135612.jpg

Yellow gold and diamond drops. Roughly 4.6ctw, as I recall - all colorless. In 18kt:

20211024_140218.jpg

My bracelet. Charms are 18kt and most of them are solid. Diamonds are OECs. Hand enameled:

20211024_140300.jpg

My bangles. I wear at least one of these every day. I'm a bangle kinda girl. ::)

20211024_142742.jpg

Blue akoyas and OEC diamonds. Love!

20211024_142622.jpg

My commemoration pendant for my darling dog. 18kt. Weighs more than I can express. Set with diamonds and one small ruby:

20211024_140517.jpg

My Beloved - 4.05ct H VS1 ACA in 18kt yellow and platinum details:

20211024_142529.jpg

My glorious opal in 18kt rose gold, with diamonds:

20211024_142500.jpg

My cluster. I've pulled apart the matching earrings and am remaking them to be a better fit with this ring and with more ctw:

I think these are better and more on track with the topic! Thanks for the indulgence - my OCD was kicking in!

Your opal ring- can you tell me more about it?
You definitely know how to do dangle earrings!!! Love. love, love both pairs!!! More opals. How is is that I don't have a piece of jewelry with an opal?! You and Missy inspire me, how could you not!
Your hoops- I said way back when I am having Mrs-b hoop earrings made. Smaller, maybe. I love that they are solid and how they close! You are so wise and you really think things through.
Beloved- no explanation needed!
Your commemoration pendant - I have no words...

It took me a while to figure this out. I decided to just go with ten of the pieces that I wear the most right now. My lifestyle these days is mostly very casual.

1) Tahitian pearl drop earrings
2) Puffy coin pearl ring
3) Freshwater keshi necklace
4) Gold flower dangle earrings
5) Gold rope chain

6) Diamond bangle
7) Clear stud earrings 2cttw
8 ) Light pink LC sapphire ring
9) Dark pink LC sapphire ring
10) Light pink LC sapphire necklace

jewelry2.jpg jewelry1.jpg
What does LC stand for? And can you show me another pic of the pearl ring? It is so interesting and pretty
