My cousin just bought this diamond for his girlfriend (despite my encouragement to do some work and order from the more popular vendors on here) and I wanted to see what you think. He basically said if the consensus was that it was a good diamond, he''d keep it. If not, he''d use Blue Nile''s return policy and start over.

It doesn''t seem like a bad diamond to me, but I''ve only gained my knowledge from lurking on pricescope.

I know Blue Nile doesn''t give all the preferred specs, but I''d love to hear any feedback based on what is available. Thanks for your time!

Probably, it is a nice stone.

Welcome!

The thing is, you can''t really judge a Princess by the numbers, the photographs aren''t very clear to be able to tell much. If he has received the diamond and loves it, then that is the main thing, but it does appear some of the BN Signature Ideals can be a popular choice. One thing though, should he ever decide he wants to upgrade, then BN don''t have a trade in policy unlike some of the other vendors, so you may want to broach the subject with him.

My two concerns for him were the crown height + the price. Shouldn''t the crown be at least 10%?

The source of these stones has decided that 8% is enough.

Crown height can be good to know, but it doesn't necessarily follow that a higher crown height will make a diamond more fiery or a better performer - according to some of the experts here it isn't as straightforward as that. Look at the whole diamond, if it appeals to the purchaser, then that is what matters. Pricing, no problems with BN usually.

Thanks to both of you for your help! I guess he''s going to have to play the waiting game.

You are welcome! That is the best way, when he gets it, make sure he checks it out in as many different lights as possible. He could also order an ASET scope, which could be very useful for checking this diamond out, if the idea appeals to him, see here -
