Posted below is a link to a thread I posted about diamond and setting im purchasing from BGD. The reason I am writing this post is because I need your help to decide what i will put on the inscription inside the ring. Call me crazy but im looking to have some fun with this. Im not looking for the normal "Forever" or " Circle of Love" inscription. We have been together for almost 6 years , im 30 and she is 28. We are both full of jokes and humor so i think something funny /edgy would fit for us. I have to decide in 2-4 days max so i thought i would have some fun with it. All ideas or thoughts appreciated

Im not 100 percent sure but i think its 14 charachters or less

Lets see what you guys come up with !!!!!

I am just not so sure that is the place most girls want a joke inscribed! If you did, it would have to be something very personal that would be funny to you two. I really do not think we can help you with that!

But just FYI, most people don't engrave the engagement ring, but you certainly can, of course. It is the wedding band that usually is engraved with initials and date, or a special word or two and the date.

My engagement ring was engraved. It meant so much to me. My engraving is "my heart, forever." I loved it because that's what he calls me, his heart. And it had meaning for us both. As DS says, the message needs to be personal to you both.

And while your lady might have a great sense of humor. MOST women want their engagement rings to be about the commitment, the love, and the romance. So... I would stay away from anything too edgy.

Do you have a nickname for her? Or a special saying? That's the kind of thing I would put on the ring.

I think it depends on the person. But I think its so cute!
I met my FI at a restaurant waiting for a friends birthday. In his proposal he took me there and brought up some inside joke from that first day we met.

I picked out my own ring, but had he i would have loved to see something about that inside joke from when we met on the inside (though I dont think it would have fit in the 14 characters)

My mom gets something from my dad each year for their anniversary and whatever it is my dad gets a card. the card always has the same slogan on it; the same one he had put on the first card he ever sent her ( i think it was with some flowers or something i cant remember)

The point of my rant is that something cute and personal and between the two of you would be sweet. It doesnt have to just be about "love" and "forever". My inside joke with my FI was about a big salad

I really hope you think of something, it sounds liek a sweet idea :wavey:

I just wanted to offer a dissenting opinion, that I would have loved something fun/lighthearted/silly if it was an inside joke or a reference between DH and I. Here are some ideas: http://www.e-weddingbands.com/store/engravefav.html

I like:

"I call dibs!"

"Grow old with me"

"Put me back on!"

"Mine!!!"

"I choose you."

"Only You."

"Stick finger here."

As ... you ... wish!

+1

"She's my Rushmore" would have also been the best thing I have ever seen.

"I'm with stupid"

"not for pawning" - tacky I know but it made me giggle

"a perfect fit"

"put it back on!"

"Game Over"

"Non-refundable"

"worth the wait"

"No upgrades!"

Final sale.

You're stuck with me for life.

Sorry this is a bit long.

Life w/o parole.

All mine

Say Yes

Keep it a little romantic

"Love-struck"

"Luv U 4ever"

"Forever Yours"

Or just a pain "I LUV U"

How about the initials VSOP - could be referring to a Very Special Old Pale or Very Superior Old Pale whiskey but in this case it stands for Very Special Outstanding Person.

"You Rock"

Yes, do something fun! :appl:

I have "as you wish" inside me ering, under the bridge of the stones so it won't be messed w/if resized. And the *outside* of my wedding band says "mawage is wot bwings us togevah today" I LOVE IT. Both of us love the Princess Bride movie, and we've often joked about being Westley and Buttercup, so it has a lot of meaning for us. (Dweam wiffin a dweam is another from that movie that is cute) Anybody want a peanut? We're nuts, so that would be fitting for us..

If he was more into Star Trek instead of rolling his eyes and sighing, I'd have a ring w/"Engage" on it.

When I asked my husband for ideas for ours, he said "I married a stud"..that was vetoed quickly.

Let's see...

I am my beloved and my beloved is mine
My whole heart for my whole life
Because you loved me
Everything I am
Forever and ever, Amen
Love is (to signify the parts from the bible verse)
His
Hers
She loves him
He loves her
Once upon a time

All of those are ones I considered for mine. I also asked him about Westley and Buttercup 11/10/01 but he didn't like that.

To infinity and beyond

I'd just think about things that are meaningful for the two of you, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about it or if anyone else even understands it or "gets" it. Just so long as when *she* looks at it, or both of you, if you have something also, it brings a smile to her face.

We have 'shmily' engraved in ours. See how much I love you. DH leaves this message for me everywhere...in the steamy mirror after a shower, in my frosty windsheild before he leaves for work etc. I think you should engrave some special sentiment that is private and personal to only the two of you. An old friend of mine had 'olive ewe' engraved inside a promise ring I always thought that was cute.

Will U? (leaving space for her reply)

be mine

I (heart) you

my sweet

(I've got valentines candy on the brain!)

AB + CD

or, if you're Tolkien fans...

My Precious.

but seriously, if there's something that's special to the two of you... that would be the way to go. Or if you're religious, the citation for an appropriate verse of scripture.

I definitely understand what you are saying about a joke or funny comment and also how the engagement ring is usually not engraved and the wedding band is, but thats most people and exactly why I am choosing to engrave the engagement ring with something funny. We are not most people and always crack one another up , its who we are. I will inscribe the wedding band with the usual boring and common phrase.

When I first met her I told her something stupid or funny within the first 30 seconds and that did it. Maybe im crazy but she is getting something funny inscribed on the engagement ring. Ill keep it professional on the wedding band :-)

What did you say to her? If that was the moment you knew she was the one, then it would be perfect. Just some how condense it down to 14 letters.

Circe, I love your idea. So sweet and romantic-- that would certainly make me smile. (love that movie!)

wear me
let's do it
I dare you...
life's a gamble
take a chance
B4 I (delta) my mind
ready or not?
ready?
say yes

and my favorite...

marry me maybe
