I think my hands look younger than my chronological age. But I hate my hands cause they are so huge. Well not hate- that is too strong a word- but they are not pretty and feminine like so many of our lovely PSers hands. And I also dislike my hands because they tend to get pink/red because I have Raynauds and they don't behave. If the weather is too cold or too warm they get pink/red and swollen so I would trade in a minute for older looking but delicate feminine hands compared to my "man" hands!

Photo taken when I turned 50. I think I took it for PS. I labeled it my 50 year old hands. :cheeky: This is at work and with fluorescent lighting so Bea is not at her best. But the temp was perfect so my hands look OK.

And here they are taken just a month of two ago. Excuse my dry cuticles and not well shaped nails. I am never ready for a photo op re my nails. Must spend more attention on my hands! Here it was a bit warmer so my hands are a bit pink.

OK just took 2 quick photos of my hands right now. I am enjoying coffee in bed with the kitties and my dh and for contrast and comparison so you can see I am not lying about my huge man hands. See how large they are next to my kitties. Francesca is 9 lbs and Bobby is about 15 lbs.

Anyway just like the rest of me my hands (my hair, my Bea haha etc) have multiple personalities so what I get varies under any given circumstances but to answer your question no I don't think my hands look as old as my chronological age of 51.6 years.

There is a whole thread on "Old Lady Hands"

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/old-lady-hands.218646/

I'm guilty my hands have always always looked 10 to 15 years older than the rest of me or more because I used to renovate houses and not wear gloves, wash up don't wear gloves, dig in the garden don't wear gloves you get the idea. Not ideal for showing off jewellery at all

Haha yes thank you for reminding me why I had that photo labeled 50 year old hands. For that thread LOL. We are running out of topics that are not political in nature. :lol::lol:

My dermatologist now offers injectable fillers for hands. The pamphlet states, "Don't let your hands give away your age."

I used to rock climb and preferred to climb cracks with bare skin (I felt safer when I felt the rock), so my hands were calloused, scraped, raw, and my nails were filed down unevenly by rock. I was proud of them (still am), even though they weren't pretty they were seriously strong. My hands are a lot better now that they're not being abused as much, but still in a sad state

Oh God yes.

My hands are unimaginably boring. Congratulations to those whose hands who that they are living interesting lives!

my spotted claws...I mean my hands.... the older they get, the bigger the diamonds I'll have to wear
and that thought always cheers me up.

Amen to that sister!:appl::mrgreen:

M, you and your hands look young.

Nothing like a scrub in the shower plus a moisturizer to rejuvenate those hands! I hate that skin cell turnover slows down as we get older.

My hands are a mess as I have never been the aesthetics type; I've got lumps, callouses and scars on them from years of wear and tear. The only person who has worse hands than me is my father, his look like something from a horror movie

Does it show my age if this thread reminds me of "Madge" and Palmolive?

LOL you look amazing, Callie!!! I seriously was not expecting you to be so gorgeous when I met you at the GTG. You really are stunning and (while you were dressed conservatively) I did not notice any part of you that looked "old!"

Missy, your hands do look really young as does the rest of you! Lucky girl!

I don't know if my hands look my age. I'm now perpetually 29 so maybe they look older than that. Ha!

My hands change age with the seasons; in summer they're just about ok but in winter I somehow acquire the hands of an 80 year old despite slathering on vast amounts of hand cream.

And don't get me started on what age is doing to my neck! Sadly cream doesn't seem to make a jot of difference on that body part!....

Thank you AnnaH and Dancing Fire. It's weird because it is nothing I have done. I rarely ever wear sunblock on my hands (except for when I am cycling) so that is mainly due to genetics.

Unfortunately everything about me looks old.

Callie everything about you is beautiful and that includes your gorgeous hands OK?!And don't denigrate yourself my dear dear friend or else when I see you I will have to punish you.:naughty: Yanno I have a beautiful photo of your lovely hands wearing Bea and my Cartier black opal. They look way better on your hands than mine! Just saying.

Thank you Monnie and Ha I like that. I might have to become perpetually 29 too. Of course in my head I am more like 19.
(and I still don't feel like an adult whatever that is supposed to feel like.:oops2:)

Lissyflo did you ever read Nora Ephron's book "I Feel Bad about My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman"

It isn't easy being a woman that's for sure. Course it is waaaay better than the alternative. No offense to all the men out there reading but I wouldn't change places with you. "I enjoy being a girl"

HI:

My hands look ancient. Years of wear and tear (general duty nursing) and worshiping the sun did not help. I really MUST stop cooking and cleaning/laundry or my hands may drop off altogether!!!

cheers--Sharon

Thank you Sharon!!! I'm going to tell my husband tonight that the reason I don't cook and why we have a cleaning lady is to preserve my hand's appearance! It has absolutely nothing to do with me not wanting to do these tasks.

Missy - I haven't read that book. I've just had a look at the reviews and have added it to my list of books I want to read. I've struggled to make time to read properly since I stopped commuting to work on public transport (reading time was pretty much the only benefit!) but I'm determined to start again this year!

Missy with her baby face and baby hands!
Calliecake I've said a few times you are so glamorous and you and your hands look nowhere near your age!
DancingFire it's your turn to show us your face and hands!

Thank you Pinto Bean. I have mirrors in my house and unfortunately they do not lie.
