For me there''s not such thing as an absolute favorite gardening gizmo -- it changes by the season, or the chore, or the day.

Today I used my new TREE PRUNER, and I absolutely love

it. It made trimming up the monster lemon bush so much easier!

Of course I couldn''t have done it without my trusty old rose gauntlet gloves.... though I''m kinda wishing for gloves with gauntlets that extend up above the elbow~

What''s your favorite gizmo of the moment?

Thanks for the great website Gailey. I had never heard of it.

You''re welcome Lulu! But which one do you mean? They are all great. In fact, the only thing I collect more of than gardening tools is gardening websites

Oh sorry, I meant Darlac--the others I knew of.

Yah know, if I had to pick one as my all time favourite, it would have to be the leaf grabber from Darlac. Worth it''s weight in gold.

So far, I''ve just been planting strawberries and pulling weeds, so I guess mine is a mini-shovel that the easter bunny brought for one of my kids and it has a giraffe on the handle. It''s so flimspy that when I dig into the ground it bends back. hahaha

Okay. . .gotta find my regular hand-held shovel because we''re moving and I want to take the strawberries with me

My fav of all time are a pair of super thin delicate sheers that are used for trimming away fine leaves, like those left behind after bulbs bloom. I also love my thin rake. The width at the end is only about 12" across. It''s fun to scoop leaves out from between knooks and crannies.

Some enjoy the hard work of gardening. . .I love the relaxing elegant movements of slowly pulling weeds while enjoying a summer afternoon.

And here''s me thinking I was the only one. Good for you MC!

Well I garden for a living and must try out every tool that I see. In fact, I buy garden tools like Imelda Marcos buys shoes. Very occasionally I come across a truly new and innovative tool. Below are my all time favourites. They have stood the test of time, durability and usefulness:

Felco Secateurs (Pruners)

Thatchmaster Pro-Flex Lawn Rake

Darlac Grab ''n Lift

Darlac Stainless Steel Topiary Shears

Bahco Long Handled Lawn Edging Shears

Burgon & Ball Daisy Grubber

Gailey -- Oh my! What a luscious collection of gardening goodies!

I was thinking of getting a scythe for the trice-annual cutting of the meadow lawn, but those long-handled grass clippers have got me thinking. Maybe they''d be a little safer than a scythe? My patch of meadow grass isn''t all that large but... I tend to give it its first shearing of the season by hand (with hand pruners -- I''ve yet to find really good grass clippers) and it does take several sessions to complete the job.

VRB, I actually have the Bahco long handled horizontal shears too. I don''t use them as much and they seem to be quite hard on my hands and wrists to use. I can''t imagine doing a meadow with them. I would think a scythe would be a better option. Have a look at this website: Scythe Supply

I used to have one like that, but the wheel dropped off and the cogs siezed up. Might see if I can get a newer model with a trade-in!
