YOUR HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

I found this diamond at Union Diamond and am interested in purchasing it. Is it worthy of sitting in a ring? I''ve been looking for a while now, and am happy to skimp more on the color and clarity, but don''t want to skimp on the cut and size. I have about $3500 to spend...maybe a bit more. With my portfolio down 25% from six months ago, I''m taking every other penny and investing it. (I''m replacing the diamond that, eek, fell out of my engagement ring this summer.) Now that I have my insurance check, I need to find a diamond I want to put back in my ring.

Is this GIA graded diamond worthy of mounting in my ring?

I had a local jeweler in town quote me a diamond. They have an ungraded 1.4, M, I1. But did not have any other information. I looked at it and it looked dazzling in the store, but in the bright light it looked dark, but not yellow.

I hate to say this but you are already majorly skimping on cut. It''s not good at all...I personally wouldn''t touch it.

Horribly ugly diamond. Pass this.

Bummer. So hard to peruse through the databases. Suggestions?

Stick with AGS0 graded stones. Or at the very least GIA Excellent (for cut). Then run the numbers through the HCA tool (under tools above). Any stone that scores under 2 is worth looking at. After 2, lower isn''t better. Anything under 2 is worth checking out.

Yeah, Crafted by Infinity do cut some amazing I clarities, as well as fluorescent and lower colors. That =481&src=loupe:2o8h065d]1.39 M color I clarity is only $3,300ish; it's listed on the infinity site and online at www.winkjones.com too. I'd at least consider that one if I were you (and if you really don't mind I clarity and lower color) and put it in a cheap temp solitaire setting. Beautiful, beautiful cut on any of Infinity's rocks, which will mask a whole host of other issues... and save you $$. I think glitterata has an I clarity Infinity stone with a lower color- search her topics and it should come up; it's amazing, and she set it beautifully.

One question. Do you want a large, ugly, yellow coloured stone, or a slighly smaller, white looking ball of sparkle that will knock her socks off?

Drop the size and up the cut. GIA excellent at minimum, but remember a well cut stone will show less colour.

What is your budget? Are you absolutely locked into a bigger stone? There are people on this site who are wonderful at finding good stones at an affordable price from reputable sellers. If you post your budget, and what you are willing to settle for in size, I bet someone on here can find you a nice stone with a great cut, even if its not as big as this one. I am a newbie myself, but I am sure you can do much better than this stone, even on a limited budget. Good luck

I thritto contacting Wink - he stocks Infinity diamonds which are sometimes found in the I1 and lower colour range, see what he can find for you, he is a great guy!

I would want to see the inclusions in person before I would purchase the diamond. I had a visible inclusion in my first diamond and it really bothered me.

Too many inclusions.

Thanks everyone. I''m passing on this one.
