I would just donate the 7.5 mil to charity. Twinkles are gross.

I like the question listed on the auction. I *do* think it's funny. No one is going to spend millions on a box of Twinkies...it will cause them to lose their charitable tax write-off, by receiving goods in exchange. Just solicit straight donations, don't get ridiculous with snack cakes.

Two other points. 1) I've heard that the Canadian Hostess will continue making Twinkies. I've also heard there is a small bidding war between competing companies to buy the right to Twinkies. Between these two stories, I doubt Twinkies will cease to exist. 2) I never liked Twinkies, but I liked Hostess Cupcakes. What's going to happen to THEM? :nono:

Go on ebay. There are thousands and thousands of auctions up for Twinkies and other assorted Hostess "treats." Some boxes are listed in the thousands of dollars. And believe it or not many are selling for rediculous prices. Charity is one thing, but ordinary people paying that kind of money?????????????

Because of one of our nieces, our FIL went on Ebay to try to buy 4 boxes of various Hostess snack cakes. He bid something like $36 dollars. The 4 boxes sold for $130 :o

I'm sorry that is a ridiculous use of money.

I have had my Fannie May candies go through bankruptcy, but someone bought them and they are back. Same for Archway. If there is enough demand, they will come back (at regular prices).

Insanity. Truly.

It kind of makes me sad. All those people scrambling to get their hands on such nasty "food" items.

I've only had one Twinkie in my life, it was at my first job after college. When my colleagues learned I'd never had a Twinkie they couldn't believe it and one brought in a box the next day. I can't say I was missing much. :cheeky:

The joke might be on them - a second time. It seems Hostess and the union are talking again.

I wouldn't want 18,000 Hostess employees to be laid off under any circumstances, and especially so near the holidays, but...

the idea of a world without twinkies, ho hos, and wonder bread does not break my heart.

Actually, I am going to miss the Wonder wheat bread. It is the best of the brands that I have tried.

I like those God-forsaken Little Debbie nutty bars.

They're awesome.

I have no idea what's actually in there, since they are $1.79 for 12. Shouldn't they be at least $2 by now?

Crispy wafers with peanut butter-like substance. Yum! :cheeky:

Save-A-Lot grocery chain still sells their Twinkie-knockoff at more than 1300 stores nationwide. ;-D

Sara Lee has a knock off, too. I spotted it last night. I didn't catch the price.
