Ha! It's a good thing he won so I could live to rub it in to you and my Republican family!

hey,i was the first guy to say congrats to all the Obama supporters.

As much as I don't want to get caught up in conspiracy theories, Sarah Palin's decisions, regarding her medical care for a high risk labor and delivery of a special needs baby, defies all logic, IMO. Either it was a cover up or the woman has the worse judgment in the known world. I'm on the fence regarding the answer

Two observations -

1: I too appreciate the pains the moderators go to in order to allow a discussion like this while trying to adhere to the "no politics" policy. Some people might enjoy the kind of on-line "discourse" that follows the Gawker article, but I'm not one of them (not that PSers would resort to that level, but you know what I mean!).

2: I did follow this discussion during the campaign. The part that caught my attention was the Palins opting to fly back to Alaska for Trig's birth -- while Sarah was already in labor -- rather than staying in Texas for the birth to ensure the safety of both mother and child. Oh, and the part about them choosing to fly to Texas for a speech during her 8th month of pregnancy in the first place! At that point I figured I had two choices - either believe the conspiracy theory (and I'm not a huge fan of conspiracy theories), or believe that Governor Palin allows her political ambitions to obscure whatever common sense she has. Either way, it wasn't looking good for the Governor!

i sure miss talking politics on PS. Dems and i will never see eye to eye,but i still love them,no hard feeling.
It was never about one party versus another to me. It was always about us versus you, Dancing Fire. (Just kidding, of course. I swear I'm not out to start more trouble!) What I really meant was that it was about broader questions than party politics.

Deb
:saint:
hey, it doesn't bother me at all, like i said...no hard feelings towards the liberals. IMO, if talking political issues bothers you/members then why reply to the topic?... but instead these PSers replies to a political topic then when others disagree with their views they go running to the Admin/Mod and cry like a baby... ;( i've been posting on PS for 7 yrs now, never had i once use the report button.

"IF YOU CAN"T STAND THE HEAT...STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN" don't go crying to the Admin.

My thoughts exactly, DF. No one is forcing the easily offended PSers to click on ATW or on other political topics!

See look-we do see eye to eye on a few things!
IMO...every political thread should start with the title "WARNING POLITICAL TOPIC" and if a sensitive poster decides to reply then he/she becomes a fair game "open duck hunting season" for all members, and don't run home crying to mama b/c other members didn't agree with your political views.

Great post, Circe!

I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I don't really care about this, but I can't stand Sarah Palin.

True ... but this whole thing was happening basically an ARMS length from Russia! I mean, it's right outside her backdoor! Perhaps Trig = Russkie.

Let me see if I can help here. First, Africa is a condiment. Kenya...wait a minute. Kenya is something or other. But not a condiment. It's better not to come from Kenya, because you can't have diplomacy with them. You can have diplomacy with Russia. That's because it's in Alaska. And Alaksa is a state, not a Province (which they have in our close neighbor, Canada, which I do a lot of diplomacy with) or a Condiment.

Reminds me of an old Charlie Daniels Band song: The South's Gonna Do It Again. Do what, exactly?

What is there to rub in our faces? Just the fact that he's in the WH? Winning is only the first step in the process. It's not just about putting your feet under the desk in the Oval Office - - actually leading the country and making a difference is the end goal. Not. Happening.

Oh, well. Maybe he'll get the hang of it by 2012. . . in December 2012.

Great point! George W. did a much better job leading the country. He happened to lead it into the sh*tter, but hey-that's still leadership, amirite?!

Stock market crash. Recession. Bank failures. Government bailout of big banks at taxpayer expense. I remember that was under Bush because my (Republican) husband got sent from his usual job over to Treasury where President Bush's Secretary of the Treasury was still walking the hallways....

o.k. i'm stupid... what does the word "hang" have anything to do with a black person?

I don't understand;

I thought you weren't allowed to fly late in a pregnancy. I thought the airline people looked at you and said "no way, chickie".

I don't get that.

Am I missing something? Has that changed?

My thoughts exactly.

DF - some of the readers thought you might be making an allusion to the horrible, unthinkable lynchings that were apparently far too common when racism and racial segregation was an "accepted" norm in parts of American society.

For the record, I don't think that allusion was intentional on your part, but I'm merely guessing at your intentions... as were those who thought that your choice of words was an intentional reference to lynching.

The current prez has managed to outspend/increase our debt, in his 20 months, way over and above what Shrub did in 8 years. And that is not a factoid from Fox, my dear. We are on the verge of bankrupting this country. Shrub played a part. So did the former Democrat controlled congress. I'm holding them accountable for their idiotic choices, too. But your guy hasn't a clue. Not a shred of leadership. Not an ounce of personal responsibility. His obtuseness makes him ineffectual.

It was a poor choice of words, which I know you had no intention of using as a racial slur.

and still blaming Bush, anyway as a country "we must cut back on spending"

DF, I'd say, with the debt as high as it is, upticking at 4+ billion a day, we have no choice but to stop spending. In any way we can. And, yes, it will hurt. A whole lot of hurt to a whole lot of people. But that's what happens when we spend money we don't have, and pretend that if we just raise taxes on 'those people' we will have enough to pay back our debt while still spending out our wahzoo. We can't make it fast enough or tax it high enough to get ourselves out of this.

Simple accounting says every debit must have an equal credit. There is some mighty p-poor accounting going on in D.C., going back many administrations and at least a few generations. The money we spend in this country, daily, is not our money. The money we owe will come due. The inability to repay our debt will devalue the dollar. The sinking dollar will sink the country in savings, retirement funds, value of goods, buying power, etc. It is a vicious cycle. It must be stopped.

Talking to a camera, holding court and pointing fingers, is not leading by making tough choices. It's passing the buck. It's kicking sand in the playground, calling names, and getting belligerent. But it isn't leading.

It shouldn't take playground squabbles to get something done. It should take common sense from all participants.

Holly...we need you in Wash D.C. ;))

Changing the topic much???

Oh, not really a change in subject. Attempting to dissolve Holly's boots (hopefully she shelled out for a big can of Scotchgard) with obsequious slobber is a perennially favorite pastime of DF's.

Karen...i saw you on TV at one of those tea party rally...

OK, going back to the original topic 8)

I don't really care about the political implications because I am not American and also agree with Circe about the issue being private.

BUT my purely nosey side wants to know the scoop! That picture that EB posted is pretty clear that something fishy is up. Women show more with subsequent pregnancies, not less, and it is pretty hard to believe that she is 7 months along in the picture on the right.

I want to know.... where did the baby come from??

I think it is PRETTY SUSPICIOUS that they pulled Bristol out of school at the same time there were pregnancy rumors swirling about her AND then, out of nowhere, the Governor announces she's pregnant at *seven* months along.

Everything else is major sketch too ... I'm glad I stuck to my guns about my nagging suspicion here even when Holly was teasing me about it three years later! :) Nothing against Holly! I understand why some folks think it is disrespectful/tinfoil hat time.

Hey TRUTH ... come out, come out wherever you are! :naughty:

You're fibbin'. Besides, why would I need to leave home go to some "rally" when my whole state is tea party central?
