Hi everyone, this is my first post here and I would like to share with you my Brian Gavin Recut experience. First I must say that dealing with Lesley and Brian was first rate and stress free, they made everything easy including shipping my diamond from Nova Scotia, Canada. It was a very good experience not to mention the anticipation of the arrival of the recut stone.

The stone was given to me on my 10th anniversary 12 years ago and I would not change it for sentimental reasons. I had helped my Brother in Law order a diamond aca from whiteflash and after seeing how beautiful it was I started a search to see if I could get my cut improved. I couldn''t believe when I found Brian Gavin''s diamond recut homepage, thus my diamond recut was started.

hi natalie, you don''t happen to have photo comparisons, do ya? i''m not really a numbers person

Is that your real name? Maybe you should change it so as to prevent ID theft.

Also, I am a bit surprise that it is cut that much. Could have been cut as a modern OEC with that high a crown, but maybe there are other reasons such as inclusions that prevent it being so or you just want a modern RB cut.

Good luck. :)

I can''t quite figure out how to post more than 1 pic per post.. sorry for multiple posts..

I would never post our REAL names on the internet

We absolutely love the modern RB cuts, and like I said in my original post, after I saw a perfectly cut ACA diamond it was game over

I understand this is NOT an actual ACA but as close as I can get

NatalieE,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I am also contemplating about having my old stone recut. Just do not know if the benefits would outweigh the cost. Was your pre-cut diamond dull looking and lifeless? Do you think the present value of your "new" stone is much greater than that of your old stone plus recut/misc costs? I know, your stone has great sentimental value, and you want to keep it. Did you get an AGS report?

The beautiful hearts and arrows of your "new stone" really make me think. When I get my ACA stone and compare it with my old diamond, I hope I can draw the same conclusion as you did and send my diamond for a makeover.

Looks like its going to a stunner

Amazing!

STUNNING!!!

Can''t wait to see photos and hear about how different it looks! I bet it will be stunning!

Its a MAJOR makeover !!!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!

It looks terrific! I can''t wait to hear about how it looks in person. Brian is recutting a stone that I inherited and it is currently at AGS. I am dying with anticipation! When will you receive it?

Wow! I am just starting to learn more about stones and the numbers and how to read ASET and IdealScope images and that looks like a vast improvement! I bet you must be over the moon! Its also pretty neat that you really didn't loose much in the face-up look of the stone. 5.98 to 5.9? Barely noticeable to the human eye based on what people say around here (.1 mm or more, right?). Congrats!

Wonderful makeover!

wow, i can''t wait to see photos of the actual stone, that looks like an amazing transformation

Great makeover! Brian does it again

Your Welcome, My pre-cut diamond was a typical common cut diamond, According to Brian held alot of top weight on the crown so I was told it was a good canditate for cut. I have yet to see the stone but it looks to be a much more promising stone looking at the data and pictures sent. I will let you know what I think when I get it.

As for value, I personally would prefer a slightly smaller better performing stone than a lesser larger stone.

Good luck whatever you chose

Congrats on your Recut!! I bypassed ags (was undecided, but I guess I just did not want to wait the extra time for the certificate, but sure would be good to have.)

My diamond will be sent this week, So I''m not sure as customs usually plays with it for awhile

I would love to see your recut, please post em up

Brian really knows how to make a stone look better with a minimal size loss.
