I''ve seen a lot of people on here asking for which diamond might be better, and I have four that I''m considering. The diamonds that are SI1 are eyeclean. I know that there is almost a $2K difference between the highest and lowest priced diamond, and they are in order from least to most expensive. I know that four choices are quite a lot, so thank you in advance for taking the time to look.

Since I am pretty new to all of this, I was wondering if I could get an expert''s opinion, since there are differences in color, clarity, and measurements. I want to have the diamond set in one of Mark Morell''s settings (leaning towards the torchiere), and he has concerns about setting stones in the lower SI clarity range (does that mean SI1 as well, or SI2 and lower?) as well as thin to very thin girdles. Thanks to everyone''s expertise on here that makes the big purchase a little easier.

This is a pretty hard choice! I personally like G-H color stones, so I''d go with this one:

However, if you think she''d value size over a slight color difference, you could go with one of the I color stones. SI1 will not be a problem. I am sure Mark was meaning SI2 or even lower. I''m sure he has set many SI1 stones. And girdles of thin, medium, and slightly thick are considered ideal, so it is really only very thin that you need to avoid.

I agree with DS that Mark might mean SI2 or lower, but I would clarify with him to be sure. All the diamonds you chose are lovely, I take it an I colour is fine if you want to go a bit bigger, otherwise the H might be a nice pick, but they are all excellent stones.

Thank you to both of you. I was leaning towards the one that you both suggested. I also do like the last one, although it is not a true H&A, the Gemex light performance report rates it very highly.

Thanks again,

Ken H.

If you want to go larger, the last diamond is certainly worthy of consideration.
