If you see a bit of yellow in the sparkle of a round cut diamond does that mean the color doesn''t classify as D E or F. The diamond looks white but the "sparklies" (please excuse the non-professional term) have a definitive yellow color. In a colorless diamond such as a D, is yellow part of the color spectrum?

I''m no expert, but I would think that yes, yellow would be one of the colors given off by even a colorless stone. Like looking through a prism, right? You''d see every color at some point. Hope one of the savvies chimes in for you...

you can expect to see any colors of the visible spectrum from dispersion (separation of white light passing through the diamond into its spectral colors), as sunnyd described, assuming the "sparklies" (scintillation events) are large enough for your eye to see.

White light includes yellow. Also diamonds reflect colors. Is there yellow near the diamond? Your shirt? The uphostery? The paint?

My diamond isn''t round, but it''s F color...

Take a look at The Fire Thread. There are some pics on the first page of rounds with yellow fire (not sure the color on them).

Ditto what Gypsy said... the fire will include yellow (as well as the other colors of the visible light spectrum), and the diamond will reflect colors of its surroundings. I''m sure if you looked through the SMTR thread you could see examples of this. When I was taking pics of mine in a grapefruit tree, there was a lot of green in it, on a pink rose, pink, and so on.

This is what I was thinking too...

Otherwise you should see sparklies of all colors, not just yellow.
