Yellow Sapphire not cut properly?

I purchased this ring from ICE. It does not look right to me, you can basically see right through it and can't even see facets except around the sides. It is supposed to be 3/4 ct but is smaller than my .5 ct diamond. It seems to be like a sapphire sliver. My husband seems to think it looks fine, but to me it looks terrible. Am I right?

It took me a few minuites to even see the yellow stone. I had completely forgotten the title of the thread and thought i was looking at an interesting green cabochon in an intriguing setting. May we please have m ore photos from other angles, especially from the sides?
Now that I am seeing a yellow sapphire (?) i would say it has a window, very visible when in the box, but it looks like it might close up a little on the hand. Perhaps you could tell us more about the stone and the ring and the circumstances that have brought you and it together? Don't be put off by your husband; only a few of us can see windows, if we can see the stone at all, most just see debits.

eta, I quite like the setting

That's called a window, and you are correct, it is not cut properly.

Also, keep in mind that you can't compare diamond carat weights to colored stone carat weights, as they have differing specific gravity.

You may want to check out the thread: "New to colored gemstone buying? Read this first!" in this same Colored Stones forum.

Thanks for your replies! You can not see the stone from the sides or underneath at all. The bezel completely encloses it with a tiny hole in the bottom. When I wear it all you see is a giant grey hole, it kinda looks like I have an eyeball ring on like ppl used to wear in the 80s or a donut. I will see if I can get a picture. I paid $300 for it. Initially they sent me a completely different ring than the one I ordered; they actually sent me a ring that is sold on Overstock and not on ICE, they have the same warehouse apparently. So after a month of waiting they finally sent me the correct ring which they only had one of and must have been a very large size, becuase they sized it down to a 6 which stressed the band under the bezel kinda like a ripple effect, the result is a fit where the ring is straight at the top and round at the bottom (and very uncomfortable). I have looked at a lot of stones and have never seen one you could see through so badly as if the middle was missing. I plan on returning it, the have a really slow processing time. I sent the first one back the day I received it and it was 20 days before I received this one!

Ditto on the window.

If you look on the sticky thread for recommended vendors, there are some etsy and ebay vendors who people here have been happy with and will have much higher quality stones and settings. If you can return for a refund, you might consider doing that and having a look around elsewhere… many of the larger commercial shops use stones that have had a lot of treatments to improve the clarity and color, and that's not always permanent. Heat is fairly common in sapphires (and permanent) but ideally you'll find a sapphire without any other treatment.

It was the setting that I really liked. Somehow the setting is much less prominent in person than it looked to be online. This is the picture used to represent it on the website.

It has a window in the vendor's picture you posted also, but it not as obvious because it is not on a dark colored background.

The fringe bezel around the stone is larger in this pic than it is IRL (your photo). However, if you could get some better photos of the ring, that would help.

If you don't like the stone, or the setting, or both, I would return it.

I think you're making the right call on returning it - the stone looks to be poorly cut, the setting is not as pictured IMO, and you are not happy with it - sorry about this, I know it's disappointing. But there are lots of ring out there, you will find something you love.

I am shipping it back Monday. I took a photo of it on in case they give me a hard time and say it does not look bad...I think it looks pretty bad.
