I''ve been a lurker all summer and I have learned so much already. I keep telling my boyfriend that he''s lucky I''ve learned so much for him and he just rolls his eyes.

So I''ve fallen in love with Mark Morrell''s Flame and Sunburst settings. My boyfriend says that he wants my ring to be yellow gold since he wants a yellow gold wedding band. At first I thought that was out of style, but now I''m starting to appreciate doing something different from everyone else my age getting engaged. Anyway, my question is: Do you think Mark Morrell will do these settings in yellow gold? His website says the Sunburst costs something around 1800 in platinum. How much do you think doing the ring in yellow gold will decrease the price? Oh, and I''m looking to be around .75 ct RB. If this doesn''t work out, I think I will go with superbcert''s Tiffany solitaire.

Mark would communicate with you about what he could do in Yellow gold. If his platinum work is any indication, he knows how to work in gold, too. You might consider mising a bit of platinum for the diamond portion into an other wise yellow gold ring. Mark may have some ability to make a two-tone ring bringing the best part of the ingredients together for you.

Gold will be a lot less than platinum for the metal part, but the labor is the major component Platinum tends to run close to double the price of gold items in 14k. This is not an estimate but sort of a guide to get into the range. Figure 60% of the platinum price to guessing purposes until you have a more exact estimate from the maker.

Do you love yellow gold more than white gold or platinum? Your rings need to be what YOU love! It has nothing whatsoever to do with what metal your future husband''s band is! If he likes yg better, that is great...he should get yg for his ring! But you need to decide which you like better on YOU!

In terms of ring color. I know I like the look of a yellow gold band on my finger better than a white colored metal. I also know that a platinum head on the ring is the way to go for safety purposes. I have to decide whether I like the look of a 2 toned ring. I saw the tiffany''s solitaire in person and liked the yellow gold with platinum head. For the Mark Morrell ring, though, the lines are so fluid, so I''d like to see what it would look like with 2 tones of metal before deciding. I''ve looked through the whole eye candy folder I think by now, and I haven''t seen one of his rings in yellow gold. His website doesn''t seem to have any either. Anyone out there with a yellow gold Mark Morrell ring?

I called the jewelry store to reset my three stone diamonds ring, they give me a quote for the semi, with 3 platinum head 18k yellow gold, the center is 3/4ct,both side 1/3ct, and they would charge me $1895, are they expensive??

Is that just for the setting (all the stones are yours)? How intricate is the setting? If it is plain, that''s quite pricey!

yes that''s expensive. I''m currently having a 5 stone ring made, all platinum and mine is about $150 less.
