Yellow diamond with 5 marquise

We received this ring from my grandmother she had it back in the late 60's and early 70's it is an 18k ring with what we think is a platinum setting. Just looking for some thoughts on the ring and the appearance, we are considering resetting the stones into another design.

I'd probably take the yellow diamond and the white marquise diamonds and make a new ring. I'd use the pink sapphires in something else! Somebody here recently posted a beautiful wedding band design made of marquise stones set sideways (east to west). I'd probably halo the yellow diamond with white diamonds.

The center stone and marquises would make a nice daisy motif right hand ring (or cocktail ring, or pendant)!

Or maybe the rubies could be used to create a square frame around the center stone, with four of the marquise stones radiating from the center to each corner...
