I have been researching the cut specs for a radiant cut diamond. I found the table on the AGA site but have had a hard time find a fancy yellow that comes close to fitting the ideal cut range. My future fiance hinted at yellow while we were on a cruise. Is the cut as important with colored diamonds? Thanks for any and all information.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a fancy yellow with nice proportions as these command premium prices.
It is more usual to find stones that have been polished in order to deepen or intensify the color and that means either a deeper pavillion and/or crown and a thicker girdle.

Fancy colored diamonds are a whole other ballgame when it comes to cut.

White diamonds are cut to optimize light return performance, while fancy colored diamonds are cut to optimize the depth of color. Sometimes the two overlap, but often you will find more unorthodox proportions with a fancy color stone. If the cutter successfully pulled it off where the color looks great and the stone is not a dog in regards to light return performance, then he did his job. A better cut stone will always be more desirable, but it doesn''t play as big a role in pricing as it does with white diamonds.

Color, on the other hand, plays a huge role. The depth of color, eveness of color, hue and modifying hues all play a big part in the value of a fancy colored diamond. You can have two similar stones, both certified "fancy intense yellow", but with one costing far more than the other. That''s usually because the color is far sweeter in that stone for one reason or another.
