Yellow against white?

Weve just brought platinum into our choice of settings when it had just been yellow gold, but hubbys wondering how much effect the yellow gold has on the diamond if set in platinum basket, ive seen a ring in platinum and the diamonds just blended in and looked beautifull the whole ring sparkled not just the center stone, the stones we are looking at are 1 ct princess e/d, would the yellow gold lessen the overall colour of the stone as its a good stone and we want to show it to its best.

Any thoughts please?

Definitely keep the platinum prongs, they are more sturdy and yellow prongs do sometimes make the stone look more yellow.

As long as the prongs are white gold or platinum, you''ll be fine. Yellow vs. white metal for the shank/band is just personal preference.

I agree that platinum prongs are a MUST. I personally like the look of diamonds much better in white metals because it''s a white stone. I like warmer color diamonds or warm color stones in yellow gold. Just a personal preference I think, so go and try on a bunch of both and see what you like best.

I totally agree with Widget. I have platinum, and really only wear white metal, but I have to say that I think that beautiful, well-cut diamonds look positively GORGEOUS in yellow gold. Such a stunning contrast, yum!
