YEAH PHILLIES!!! I am also in the ''burbs but it was absolutely insane (in a good way) - people in the streets, honking horns and high fiving ever where you went.
DF - I''ve heard the whole numbers bit of ''80 vs. ''08 and it got me thinking about the pitcher that saved each game - Tug McGraw (#45) in ''80 and Brad Lidge (#54) in ''08. Meant to be!
I didn''t know that about William Penn - cool! Glad your DD had a great time at the parade. BF and I made it down there also and it was a wonderful day despite waiting over three hours to take Septa into the city from the ''burbsDate: 10/30/2008 10:40:45 PM

Ashley my DD who goes to Penn went to celebrate on Broad street. They were at a party downtown anyway, and loved the celebration. I am glad she shared her enthusiasm with me today, as if I had known she was there last night I would have been worried. But that''s just me as a Mom. I can''t control anything anymore, LOL., She said it was a blast. So good for her, and all those crazy kids!! I liked watching it from the safety of my warm cozy home, LOL!! I am getting old!!!![]()

After the crazy weather we had earlier that week, it turned out to be a picture perfect day for celebrating!![]()
I felt really bad for those that normally take the trains/subway for work or school. There was one woman on my regional rail train that was going to work and it was nearly 11:30 by the time we arrived into Philly. Her boss had told her just to get there whenever she could. But you''re right - it was a great vibe in the city yesterday so the good definitely outweighed the bad!Date: 11/1/2008 5:14:22 PM

SEPTA was insane yesterday...I was one of the few people who actually went to class yesterday, and I might as well have walked to school. Actually, since the downtown stations were closed for awhile and they kicked us off the train at a stop further out, I practically did. It sounds like people taking Regional Rail had it worse, though! But the city had such a great vibe, it just felt really happy -- so un-Philly-like and heartwarming!
We were on Broad by Dickinson. We walked FOREVER, but it was worth it to meet up with my nephew and see his face during the excitement. I got some good pics! I''ll have to post when I get them uploaded. I did hear someone trying to sell their Cit Bank tickets when we were closer to Ind Hall. God only knows how long it would have taken then to get down there! hahaDate: 11/3/2008 11:38:24 AM

. My brother also had tix for the Linc, but he was on Broad St and decided to sell them to some random guy for a bottle of vodka! LOL.
