This website is SO addictive! It''s so nice to find a forum where others feel the same as I do about jewelry and where great importance is placed on THE RING. Not only have I learned a ton about cut, color, quality, etc, but I''ve also laughed, teared, and become completely absorbed in reading some of the topics/posts on this site. Rings and jewelry can be SUCH an emotional experience and I''ve learnt that I''m "normal" for a) placing such great importance on an engagement ring, b) wanting to upgrade, and c) being more interested in my ring (i''m gonna be wearing it for a looooooong time afer all) than my wedding gown.

The bad news is that I found this site after my fiance has already purchased my e-ring, but the good news is that he''s already agreed to a future upgrade/change of setting!! (Open communication and compromise were key for having the "upgrade" talk) =D I actually like my current e-ring as it was a budget-friendly choice and in certain lights it really looks like one bigger stone instead of a cluster, but it is not the e-ring I would have chosen if money was not an issue. Also, it was extremely difficult to find a wedding band to match it and I had to settle for getting a band that would not sit flush with the ring. I thought I''d be ok with it, but I''d really prefer for the rings to sit flush. Soon after, I started really getting into all the posts on PS and it solidified my desire to get a ring that has one, larger central stone with a great cut, that would fit well with my band.

Here''s where I need help: the wedding band I chose is a half-eternity shared prong band with 10, .03 diamonds. Instead of me wearing my current e-ring as a right hand ring, my fiance requested that the diamonds from the e-ring be added to the setting of the new e-ring. I have no idea what design to choose that would look good with my shared prong band AND still include the stones (Seven .08 stones) from my original e-ring. Any help/ideas/advice would be much-appreciated and thanks for checking out my post! =)

Could you use the 8 stones as side stones in a shared prong setting, and put the new diamond in the center? The smaller wedding band might not look too different.

My hubby''s 180 degress from yours, he won''t let me take apart my original ring, he wants it kept "as is".

Yes! I would like that but just thought the size difference might be too much? It''s definitely a great option though!

If anyone has photos of their shared prong wedding band with a non-matching e-ring (that is not a classic soliatire, though I think that''s a great look) but still have it look good, please do feel free to post them. =)
