I''m so excited, it''s really sad. I met a photographer last night, and I love love love her (and so does FI). I called my mom up to tell her that she''s "the one" and my mom''s like honey she''s a photographer not the person you''re marrying. Anyway, she''s more than I wanted to spend, but we''ve decided that her work is so good that we don''t want a video- yay for more room in the budget. She has a background in fashion and runway- so she''s really good at capturing people in the most flattering angles. Here''s a link to her site and her blog for any New England Area brides looking for a photographer.

ooohh i took a peek at the first couple weddings on her blog and her work looks fantastic. I was a little worried after the first two because they looked like $100k weddings, but the third one looked like more of a normal wedding and the photos were just as fabulous!

Congrats! I know how exciting it is to find that ONE photographer that you love, it''s not sad at all!! It''s a great feeling.

Don''t worry about spending money on your pictures! It SHOULD be the one thing you really splurge on, in my opinion! In two years, no one will remember what the cake tasted like or how good the food was, your flowers and centerpieces will be long gone, your dress will be in a closet somewhere, the tux will be back at the rental place, your invitations will be in a garbage dump, your favors will be eaten or used up, but you WILL have your pictures. And getting good pictures of that day will make it fantastic, I promise!

I agree with the video - I don''t want mine videotaped. Pictures can and will gloss over all the little imperfect things that happened that you don''t necessarily WANT to remember, but a video will show every flaw and every bump in the road! Your album will make it look like the perfect fairytale wedding you want to remember it as.

Hey, that''s my photographer, too!

She''s awesome!

Congratulations on finding such a wonderful photographer!! Her work is amazing!

Thanks ladies- I love her work too! Basil- I forgot that you''re getting married in RI. Linden Place, no? Have you booked other vendors? I''m debating on my florist. I love Flowers by Semia, but she''s quite pricey. After splurging on Kristin, I''m not sure if I can afford Semia. Our estimate with her is about $6500. So unless I cut down on stuff I may need to look around a bit more. Any recommendations? How about DJ''s?

Yeah, Linden Place!

Semia''s work is gorgeous, no doubt, but like you said, pricey. We splurged on Kristin and then I really felt I needed to cut corners. We are going with Florals by Alisa. They get great reviews by those who have used them, but are very affordable. I don''t have any first hand experience, though. We''re getting bride''s bouquet, 2 bridesmaids'' bouquets, 5 boutonieres, 2 corsages, 10 centerpieces, 2 large altar arrangements, and a wreath for our ceremony for about $1500. I hope I''m not disappointed, cause the price is like half what Semia would have been.

I also liked Stoneblossom''s work, but they were about the same price as Semia.

For the DJ, we''re going with Moondance. They get uniformly good reviews - and they are affordable compared to some others ($875 for 5 hours). We didn''t even meet with them cause I just got impatient and wanted a decision made. I don''t live in RI, so it''s hard to get up there to do vendor meetings.

I''ll have to look into Alisa, thanks! I''m also waiting (fingers crossed) on a quote from Mums. She indicated that she could probably do the whole thing under 3k. We''re having a bride''s bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, 9 bouts, 2 bouquets for the moms, one corsage for the grandma, buckets w/flowers on the ceremony chair''s bordering the aisle, petals covering the aisle, 2 ceremony arrangements and flowers on the trellis, 14 centerpieces (half high and half low) and grass in trays for the placecards to sit on. A bit more than you''re having, but if I could get it for 3k I''d be sooo excited.

In terms of Moondance, I too have heard mostly good things. The only negative that I keep hearing, is that Alan is starting to get a bad rep for getting plastered at weddings. Just to keep in mind...the price is amazing though, so we may also go with them. Everyone else I''ve asked for quotes from are twice as much.

Linden place is so beautiful btw. I love the staircase in the main mansion- be sure to get lots of pictures on it.

Really? I hadn''t heard that about Alan. That''s actually quite concerning...I guess I''m kind of naive, but it hadn''t occurred to me that any of the vendors would actually be drinking!

Do you think I should request someone else? I thought Suzanne got pretty good reviews as well.

I''m with you on that. I never would have imagined that my vendors would even consider drinking. It''s such a breach of etiquette. I''m not sure how my venue would handle that either- if they noticed. I''m fairly certain that we''re not going to add the cost of open bar to each of our vendor meals.

I haven''t heard anything negative about Suzanne- worth checking out for sure. My vendors have been a surprisingly amazing source of information about other local vendors. Since they work with them time and again, they offer some good perspective, and I''ve found that they''ve had no problems being honest about their colleagues!
