It took her 4 months after graduating from nursing school to find a job. Her job site is about 45 mins. drive from home. She will be working 12hrs per day 3 days per week. Now she can pay her own bills...
She received her AS degree in May then got her RN license in Aug. Right after graduating from HS (200 she put her name into a lottery jar for 3 different nursing schools, but her name wasn't drawn. In 2012 she received a BS degree in Health Care Admin., but couldn't find a job after one yr.,so in 2013 she put her name into the lottery jar again, but her name wasn't drawn on the first two try then she got lucky in the spring of 2014 when her name was finally drawn...azstonie|1479953951|4102084 said:Congratulations, DF!!! BTW, She said AS and BS get the same amount of pay per hr.
DD said she will be working in different departments of the hospital depending on where they needed an extra nurse for that day. She said she will receive a $5 per hr pay differential for night shift.azstonie|1479962510|4102139 said:Dancing Fire|1479960860|4102129 said:She received her AS degree in May then got her RN license in Aug. Fantastic, she persevered and it paid off handsomely! Its funny how nursing vacancies seem to go in cycles now: NO NURSES!!! WE MUST HAVE NURSES!! Then TOO MANY NURSES!!! NO JOBS FOR NURSES!!! Same thing with teachers
Yes, that is true about the pay being the same AS vs BS, it makes all the difference in terms of promotions and status though, and since she has a bachelor's she will be nicely positioned to promote up as soon as possible.
Will she choose a speciality, like dialysis nursing? My friends at Mayo who were nurses liked the dialysis schedule, its even better than 3 on/4 off and they make a pay premium too.
Yeah, That's what I thought too. This was only her 2nd job interview. Her first interview was at a hospital in town but they ended up hiring 2 of her classmates. Finding a job in town would be better b/c of less driving distances to work, plus an extra $5 per hr pay.azstonie|1479962510|4102139 said:Fantastic, she persevered and it paid off handsomely! And the same job here in Sacto pays $8 more per hr. So...more patients die in Sacto? ...azstonie|1480006774|4102305 said:That extra $5 is because patients tend to die AT NIGHT!!!
