Wedding Wrinkly Veil

Last night took a peek at my veil and noticed that it''s in need of some sort of de-wrinkling. Do I take it to a dry cleaner to get the wrinkles out? Is it pricey to do so? What''s the likelihood that they''ll damage it?

I''ve heard that if you hang your veil in the bathroom when you take a shower the steam should get most of the wrinkles out. I haven''t tried it myself so I''m not sure how accurate this info is. Hope it helps.

When I have something really delicate, I usually lay it out, and drape a towel over it. The I iron the towel, so that the iron is never directly on the delicate material.

Exactly. Try this and just leave the shower on hot and close the door so the bathroom really steams up. The weight of the veil hanging on a hanger should be enough to steam it straight. I wouldn''t iron it myself. If anything, I''d call a local bridal shop and see if they have a steamer or if they know a cleaner that has a steamer that they can recommend.

My mom steamed mine with a hand-held steamer, but she didn''t press it right up against the fabric, just aimed it in the general direction from several inches away. Mine was silk tulle.

Stephanie- I''m not sure what material the veil is made of off the top of my head (no pun intended). It''s a hand-me-down from a friend.

Sappergirl- Good idea! That''s a timesaver AND a money-saver... NICE!!! I''ll try it this evening.
Allycat- That''s a good option too. Although, I am concerned about my ironing skills (or lack there of).

Surfgirl- Good ideas! If the shower idea doesn''t work I might just take you up on that suggestion.

Sumbride- Ooo! FSIL has a steamer. I wonder if she''d let me borrow it if the shower thing doesn''t work.

Any of the above suggestions should work fine. If the fabic is lighter/thinner try the shower first - it should come right out. If it''s heavier/thicker, a hand held steamer would be best (or trying your bridal salon). It may sound crazy, but getting a humidifier and hanging the veil in front of the direction of the steam worked for a friend of mine before. I would be a little scared of the towel and iron - if you need to do this use a white towel (no chance of color fading) and use the iron on the lowest steam setting possible.

Stephanie- A humdifier... that is pretty inventive. I could definitely see how that could work. It''s like a concentrated version of the shower steam. That''s a pretty smart friend you have there!
I agree about the ironing thing. If I were a person with normal to excellent ironing skills, I would consider it. However I, sadly, am not. So, I''m not sure if I trust my ironing skills when it comes to my veil. I can just hear the smoke detectors now.

The white vs. colored towel comment you made was right on. I hadn''t considered that.
