I am going to pop the question in December. I am planning on getting a Tiffany''s Legacy ring. I ain''t knowing a dang thang bout rings. lol. Please help me out!!!! I am planning on spending around 10,000 or just alittle more. Does this sound realistic? Or am I out of my mind crazy like my cat''s running after a laser pointer dot on the ground. I want it to be Platinum. I don''t know anything about rings. I don''t really care how "big" the diamond is more than I do the quality. Help me Please! I don''t want to walk into Tiffany''s like a moron!!! Thank you!!

Hi bwm,
I think $10,000 is plenty to buy a great engagement ring. I suggest you read the tutorials here and read as many of the other peoples threads as you can stand so you get a feel for things. If you ask questions and post all of the details about your diamond, I think you will make an educated decision and be very pleased with your choice.
Good luck

Hi, welcome to Pricescope.
35.gif

The tiffany legacy ring is an ornate halo with a branded cushion-cut center stone. There are lots of threads about that ring here, so make the search box your friend! 10K will most certainly get you a legacy, but I''m not familiar with Tiffany''s pricing these days. If I had to guess, it will get you a 0.5.-0.75ish center stone. Only Tiffany carries ''legacy'' cut stones, so if that is exactly what you want, Tiff''s is the only place to get it.

There are still many parameters to consider within the legacy. Fancy cuts (like cushions) are best judged in person by eye. Your best bet is to call your local Tiffs and tell them what you''re looking for. See if they will bring in several rings in your price range that you can evaluate in person.
This thread follows Ringshopper2008''s journey to find the perfect Tiffany novo by working with his Tiffany sales associate.

The color and clarity of the stones will impact the price. You may find that (and I''m just making these numbers up for an example) they show you a 0.6 ct E VVS2 stone that costs significantly more than an I VS1 stone. These parameters come down to personal preference, Tiffany isn''t going to sell you a ''bad'' or ''yellow'' stone. But you should learn a little about color and clarity so you''re familiar with the terms. There are tutorials above under "knowledge" in the PS navigator bar thingy.

If it''s the legacy style that you like and not specifically the branded Tiffany legacy, many many people have created reasonable copies that are less expensive. They are not precisely the same ring and they do not come from Tiffany''s. It depends on whether you want the style or the actual Tiffay legacy cut/warranty/experience.

Hope that small novel helps you; good luck!

This person said their .72 retails for around $10,000 (I would guess their probably rounding up a bit, to get money money from a buyer) But I'm just showing you this as an estimate/ jumping "on" point...

b w m,

I too had a budget of $10k and wanted to get my gf the best ring possible. I knew she wanted a round solitaire. I looked at many high-end stores in my area (including Tiffanys), but to get my ideal ring it will cost me around $4-6k more. I did some more homework and decided to go with WhiteFlash.com. There ACA diamonds are very attractive. I ended up with a 1.22 F color ACA diamond set in a platinum tiffany style setting without breaking the bank. Now I'm using the remaining $1000 on a weekend trip to NYC to propose.
Tiffany should have something for you for that amount, might not be a huge rock but its Tiffanys u know

Do some research because $10k is a lot of money and you want to use it wisely.

Here¡¯s a link to my erring¡good luck

Is she dead set on Tiffany''s, or is this your idea? The reason I ask is that while T&Co is a great brand with a fantastic image, you definitely pay for that image. You could get a ring that is almost twice as big if you go with some one other than Tiffany''s, and you can still get a setting that looks like a T&Co setting. Look around at Whiteflash or GoodOldGold.com and see what you can buy with 10k, and then go to Tiffany''s and see how far your dollar stretches. I think you''ll be surprised at how expensive they really are.

+1
after all...we''re buying a Diamond and Tiffanys get their diamonds like any other stores

I didn''t read your original post very well.

Sorry about that.

Don''t worry what the salespeople think about you. I don''t know anyone who knows the pricing on Tiffany Legacy rings (especially since there are 2 versions) except someone who just bought one! Good luck in your search!

Hey BWM,

I just began/finished my ring search, and ended up with the Tiffany Legacy, the most beautiful ring I could ever find! My ring is .3 carats F in Color and VS1 in clarity, the cut is excellent, the symmetry is good, and the polish is Very good. The setting is platinum. It was 5150. I first looked at a VVS1 and it was 800 dollars more, so going down a bit in the clarity is beneficial to the wallet. There is no way I can tell the difference. I compared a few rings, and this one I felt was the most beautiful. I by the way am the woman who gets to wear the ring. We did the shopping together.... if i am going to wear something forever, that is as special as our relationship, i wanted it to be perfect and so did he. I read on PS a bunch of threads about legacy replicas and for me, the actual real Tiffany was the most beautiful to my eye. I first started out not wanting TIffany because I am a bargin shopper, and i knew you could get more for less else where. However, the thing for me was i didn''t want More ring... i only wanted a small ring, and i didn''t want a solitaire. I couldn''t find a smaller ring without having it made specifically, and i really loved the legacy. The legacy looks beautiful both big and small, and the benefit as a small ring, is you get a lot more finger coverage. It sparkles so beautifully too!!!
One reason I didn''t want to design a similar ring is that i am active with my hands and I liked the fact that the diamond is flush with the setting. There are no prongs. For me that was a must, and the replicas often have prongs, and the diamond sits higher than the halo. for me, that wasn''t the design i was looking for. I tried on so many rings, and this one was just the perfect one for me. So I just wanted to give you a little info about it. I don''t have pictures, because I haven''t been given the ring yet, but once I receive it, whenever that will be, i will post for you all.... but there are plenty of pictures you can look at on other threads.

Hope that helps at all... I don''t know what Tiffany''s you will be shopping at, but my Sales associate was FANTASTIC. So i could recommend her if you happen to be in the CA bayarea.

Take care,
BananaBoat

Banana Boat! Thank you so much! Are you from the Bay Area? I live in Hayward, (The East Bay)! Oh my god thank you! If you have an sales associate that you would like to recommend to me I would love to speak with them. I really do appreciate all your help.(And everyone else on here...but in the end, I think there is something in my psychological makeup that is forcing me to choose Tiffany's. )Thank you SO much!!!! have a great weekend!!!

Best ofl luck! You sound like a very nice person. I''m sure you''ll find all the info to make you feel diamond smart on this site. Let us know what you buy.

Hey BWM,

We went to the Tiffany''s at Stanford Shopping center in Palo Alto. The Sales associate we are working with is Rayna. I don''t want to post her last name just for her own privacy purposes. She is super nice and super helpful. She didn''t try to sell me anything i couldn''t afford, and i felt she was really helpful and guided me through a lot. She provides a lot of info about Tiffanys diamonds and you don''t have to worry about not knowing a lot. My suggestions to you as a first time shopper is to ask to see the stats on the diamond. They don''t have anything less than a I in color and Vs2 in clarity. There are little books that they give you about the diamonds, and so you can take the info home with you while you are thinking about it. Especially if you talk to her, she will make sure to inform you. She goes way out of her way too... really helpful. I even told the manager how much i appreciated the service, and being treated really well. She does work on weekends, so that should be helpful. Stanford might be far for you, i don''t know where there are other Tiffany''s besides Valley fair in San Jose. I have always loved Tiffany, but never thought I would ever have a tiffany diamond... but sometimes things just turn out. I would suggest to you to make sure you don''t want to do a replica... but i know you will be happy with the Tiffany. Because I live pretty close, i like that i can take it in to get cleaned often!! I will have one sparkly hand. hehe... hopefully I will get to wear mine soon!!!!! Good luck to you. I will check on here again to see if you need more info. one last thing I find fantastic about TIffany is that each ring is made specially for the diamond. It isn''t just placed into a setting, it is custom done. I find that really great.... Good luck. One other piece of advice, if you do want to look at other things, don''t go to Tiffanys first, then compare, because that was the mistake i made. NOTHING compares when you see that damn legacy first. So shop around, and make sure nothing else is what you want. But if you are sure for sure for sure, then go ahead and do it up in Tiffany Style!

Take care,
Banana boat!

Thank you so much Banana Boat!!!!! I will look into her right away! Thank you!

She is on vacation at the moment, and won''t be back till after July 22... just FYI.

Good luck!

One last weird question. Once you have paid for the ring that you want and everything is said and done, about how long does it take for you to actually bring the ring home?

By the way, I am going there this weekend and will tell you about it afterward. hehe. . . I'm very excited. !

If they have it in stock, and you have the cash, should be *really* quick.

I have Rayna''s schedule, because i am still working with her this week. She is off on Friday, but works Saturday the 26th from 10-6 and Sun the 27th from 11-6. Just so you know. I might see her tomorrow, I will give her a heads up that someone will be coming to see her, so she will be all ready to go ;) hope that is alright... i figure it is. With purchasing the ring.... you can take it right home. Unless you want to get it sized first, but if it is a surprise you probably won''t want it sized till after she gets it. I don''t know if you saw on PS that there is a payment option, with a down payment, you can pay off the ring interest free for 1 year... i am not sure how that affects your credit, but it is an option. I am always of the persuasion that if you can afford it, you should just pay cash for it. but that may not be your cup of tea... so there are other options with out dealing with credit card rates. So good luck this weekend... keep us posted! I wanna know how it goes. YAY for tiffany and the legacy!

Take care,
Bananaboat

Hey bwm, I am glad that you know what you want. It sounds like you have an exciting weekend coming up! I''m looking forward to hearing about it.

And bananaboat... when do you get your ring? I''m can''t wait to see pics! Congratulations! I liked what you said about not wanting ''more'' ring. It''s good to know what you want. I wish I could make up my mind!

I have called and spoken with Rayna at Tiffany''s in Palo Alto. Me and her are suppose to meet some time this Saturday. She sounded really nice and so far so good with everything. Thank you B. Boat. I''ll get back with you guys later! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Best of luck to you, b_m_w!

I just got back from my consultation with Rayna S. at the Tiffany’s in Palo Alto. . . wow, I really like the Stanford shopping center a lot.
Rayna was wonderful and took my onslaught of obsessive compulsive incoherent nervous rambling quite well. Lol. I took a look at the small and large Legacy rings and together we came up with a good choice for which fits my price range for December quite well. This is not what it might look like or say exactly on the cert that I will get but from my own words it’s a
Platinum / Legacy setting / cushion cut diamond / F color / VS1, at .72 carrots for $10,700. plus tax (so about almost 12 all said and done). It’s between that and the G color, VS1, at .74 carrots for $10,600. . . but we have decided on the first one just for a little better color and the fact that .72 and .74 are so close that it will not really make that big of a difference.

The ring by the way is amazing. I love the Tiffany’s Legacy ring. In person, it sparkles from all angles, and looks incredible!

Thank you soooooo much B. Boat for helping me out and pointing me to a great sales rep. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! Thank you!

That''s an expensive ring... It costs to get the Tiffany & Co. name!
27.gif
I think its a good choice in going w/ the F color due to the small price increment. Anyways, glad you found a setup that you like and good luck with the proposal!

Hey BWM,

I am so glad you liked Rayna. she is quite a great person. I like her alot, and she is so helpful. She helped me so much, and I have enjoyed the experience working with her. It sounds like you are going to get a great ring. Mine too is a F with VS1 she probably gave you the same advice as she did for us. When are you going to actually purchase the ring? I can''t imagine having to wait knowing you get to give your girlfriend such a pretty ring for so long! I would not want to keep it in the house, so I assume you will get it when it gets closer.... So if there are anymore exciting details, or boring ones, I would like to hear about your experience!
Take care,
Banana Boat

$12k for .72
23.gif

Wow....my friend got an ering from Tiffanys last year for $18k but its a 1.2 F. Dawm, either you got robbed or prices sky-rocketed

Smithy617, the Legacy setting is dripping in diamonds, so that is adding to the cost and bling vs a Tiffany solitaire.

That said, I had a cushion halo created (what I like to think of as the Legacy Plus
9.gif
) for much less than the 10K quoted, and the stone is 50% bigger, and a Cushion Brilliant, not the step cut patented cushion they use.

If the Blue Box is important, and she wants the inside of her ring stamped Tiffany, you will be very happy with the legacy. As some other posters have pointed out, you could save some cheese going another route, but if that''s not what makes your heart sing...
