Ive been looking for hearts and arrows for a long time. But today i got blasted
30.gif
in the

face with a 89 facet "Sitara" diamond-- very similar to the Eighternity from GOG ( I believe

8ernity is 81 faceted). Does anyone agree with me about these kinds of diamonds? My GF

tried it on and when she moved her hand around i could almost HEAR the scintillation! It

snapped crackled and popped all over the place, and when she tried on the Artic Ideal (just

plain HandA) it just sparkled a bit ( Well, a bit compared to the other diamond). It had Nothing on the 89 facets! I am definatly on the hunt for a diamond like Eighternity but i had a few questions:

1) Does anyone own one? How do you like it?

2) Are there any negetives I should know about 80some faceted diamonds?

3) Its not good when next to the price for Eighternity diamonds it has "Call" next to it. So much do they run, say, for a carat?

4) Thank You!

I havent seen the Eighternity but like you have seen simular diamonds.
They arent my favorite look but for someone that likes the look the extra facet cuts are kicken.
They are very sparky.

negatives is that they can look busy to some people I like the cleaner look of the super-ideal h&a''s.
Some of the extra facet cuts arent that well cut as far as the crown and pavilion angles go but others are exellent.
From what Iv heard Eighternity gets both right, the angles for a lot of light return and the flashy look that some people love.

Prices run slightly higher than h&a diamonds of the same size color and clarity.
They wont allow prices to be advertised on the net but you can call and get pricing.

yeah I''m not a fan of the extra-faceted stones from a visual perspective either...

I tried on the Leo and it was a beautiful scintillating look but WAY too chaotic for me inside the stone. It was more like a cracked ice look, and if I wanted that, I could get a stunning radiant and call it a day.

It also didn''t have the arrow pattern and for me that''s a must now!

Actually, it does have the arrow pattern, but not the hearts

I dont know, though it was a little chaotic inside- it blew me away (at least under that BandM lighting) I have to get an handa and eightternity side by side again and study them more closely. Handa just looked like it was trying to sparkle and the arrows looked dark, and eighternity just threw shards of light at you

I don''t think there''s a right or wrong here. Some people prefer the cuts with extra facets (that''s what Ame has and she loves her) and some people go for the H&A cuts. Personally, I love H&As and would never get any other kind of round. But I''ve seen different versions of stones with extra facets and they are beautiful as well. Probably good to compare them side by side. That way you can see which you''re more drawn to.

Would the 10-sided H&A also retain the orderly look and keep up the glitter for you?

''Guess you must have seen these...

There aren''t many fancy rounds around here. Yours will be welcome news

No, Val, I haven't checked those out but i will! thanks!

side by side the solasfera does look busier but when it gives off light it makes up for it IMO
To each his own

Can someone tell me the dif between Solasfera and Eighternity?

Well, I don''t have a couple infront - Jonathan at Good Old Gold does.

Before you may get to see some side by side pictures or gems in person, the GemAdviser models of these things might be the closest thing, IMO.

I own a Star129 which is a 129 facet cut and I LOVE it. They "snap crackle and pop" as you say.

I''ve been staring at the title of your thread trying to figure out what the heck Hand "A" meant!

Now I see, Hand A means Hearts and Arrows! DUH!

From what ive read and discovered is that Solasfera would be better than the Eighternity. Its more symmetrical, and BS likes it more- being flushed over to the VH side. But I think i will have the best HandA and Solasfera sent over to a local appraiser and check them out in person side by side. Can those specialty diamonds be sent out to an appraiser (solasfera and/or eighternity) because i thought ive read somewhere that Jon said you had to come to the store in NY to pick it up

Anyone know about this?

Yeah! ''hand-A'' got me confused in the beginning too!

What ''hand'' ?

Anyway, I have no idea if and how Good Old Gold may be handling transactions of this sort. It is not a generally available service anywhere, as far as I understand. If such things happened at times, then either a local appraiser happened to have an established arrangement with the seller, or the buyer paid for both and returned one believe it or not... This could be wrong though. Anyway - you still need to talk with GOG about these.

Too bad you can''t pass by their shop though - especially if you are interested in those cut details...
