ever consider resetting a Tiffany e-ring (or other brands that demand a high premium) into some other setting by another jeweler?

If you did, what did you reset it to?

This question comes to my mind from time to time, as for me, I still don''t know what the the clear answer will be. The premium was paid towards the brand, so to separate the stone from the setting almost seems "wrong" or a big waste, at least.

I am interested in what PSers think about this!

i wouldn''t seperate a signed piece. There will be considerably less value in both the stone & the setting if the piece is not intact.

Thanks for your response! That''s what I think as well.

Though I guess I should also clarify one thing. If you (and other lovely PSers out there) were to own a signed piece but would like to change the setting, what would you do? Would you just leave the signed piece as is and get a new ring all together? or would you consider resetting it to whatever your heart desire, even though knowing that it wouldn''t be a signed piece anymore? (one advantage of this is no need to get another stone)

I thought this is quite an interesting topic :p

I would leave the signed piece as it is and buy a whole new ring. To me it doesn''t make much sense to pay a high premium price tag for a name brand item and then take it apart and customize it. It''d be like buying a Porsche and then later taking out the engine so you could put it in another car. LOL

But remember, just because I wouldn''t do it doesn''t mean it shouldn''t be done, to each his own.
