Would you say this woman is beautiful?

Yes! In an unconventional way. She is definitely interesting to look at!

She looks like Spiderman.

So, no.

That''s how I felt.

She looks a bit like Lena Horne so I''ll say yes!

To me beauty comes from within. There is a difference between being attractive/pretty to being beautiful.

I like her face. I can''t explain why though.

She does! And I say yes too.

Yes. And I wonder how large her ears used to be.

The tattoos are interesting, but under them she's got some great bone structure!

eta: I also think she has very kind eyes and a peaceful face.

Despite the tattoos, which I do not find attractive, SHE is beautiful...she has a peaceful presence about her too.

She has a friendly, interesting face. I wouldn''t use the word "beautiful" though.

I don''t find tattoos on the face becoming. I don''t find that picture pleasing to look at, it makes me uncomfortable because my mind knows that the tattoos are not naturally part of her, and I''ve been culturally conditioned to find it shocking and not in a good way. So, no, I don''t find her beautiful.

I voted yes, not just for the unconventional beauty, but because her confidence in herself exudes beauty. A confident woman to me is beautiful, no matter everything else.

Why do you ask Kenny?

The tattoo is in the way so I can''t say if I find her beautiful or not. I like her expression a lot. Huge closeups of faces scare the living lights out of me.

So I shouldn''t get all up in your grill, Choro? LOL

Yes I would because she feels beautiful. You can see it in her expression.

I say yes. Her features are beatiful. I dont care for the artwork on her face, but that is most likely a culture thing.

Beauty, eye, beholder.

I think she has lovely symmetrical features, which (so the studies tell us) is a common hallmark of how we judge beauty. The tattoos aren''t common in my culture, but I ... sort of don''t care? They''re well done and visually pleasing, so I''ll go with a "yes."

Here''s the thing, though: this isn''t "Hot or Not." All too often, women are judged on the basis of their physical desirability. So I''m torn between the urge to defend her by answering in the affirmative, and the urge to just reject the whole thing.

Imma gonna do both. :)

I''m curious - where do you get confidence from that picture? When I look at it I get a sense of peace, and that life has probably been hard, but confidence doesn''t pop out at me. What is it about her that screams "confidence" to you?

Well, I simply wanted to hear reactions.
I thought it was an extraordinary image.
She is not what we see on Cover Girl magazine, but I thought she was strikingly beautiful.

I like what Kal said, "Yes I would because she feels beautiful. You can see it in her expression."

Her features are beautiful, her tattoo is not.

SNIP

An old woman from the Chin ethnic minority group in Myanmar, which borders India and Thailand, shows off the tattoos she was given as a young girl to ward off attacks - particularly by neighbouring princes, who would kidnap girls to be concubines.
She was one of the last to get the markings, in a 200-year-old custom which has now died out.

Princess - She seems calm. She is comfortable and showing herself as she is with no qualms no second thoughts. There is no fear in her eyes, no sense of second guessing herself in any way. And as for the peace comment, I don''t think one can truly be at peace until they are comfortable in their own skin, and are confident in the person they are. Wouldn''t you agree? I can honestly say I am not peaceful... because I am skeptical of myself still... among other things.

You could, if you want to get a reaction from me

Gotcha. For me, after the initial shock of seeing a huge tattooed face, I was attracted to her expression. I get the sense that she is full of peace and wisdom.

I don''t find her classically beautiful but there is an air about her that is lovely.

Ha. Some people's ignorance is amazing, truly. <---- I'm referring to only ONE of the comments made here, not everyones.

What is considered beautiful in the western culture is not considered beautiful world wide. Keep that in mind, people.

Believe it or not Heidi Klum would not be considered "beautiful" in Egypt.

I don't know. I think that a person can get to the point where they are at peace without it being related to self-image at all. Just the ability to say "This is life, this is how it is, this is how it will be, and then I'll die," can bring a great deal of peace and (for me and many people I know) not related in any way to how I feel about myself. Also, I think it's a very specific cultural construct that one can be comfortable/uncomfortable in their own skin, and I'd argue that it's very possibly not necessary to many people in the world.

Maybe "acceptance" is a better word for what I think she's projecting, but it makes me feel peaceful.

Kenny, I really wish I could find a print of this picture. I really love it.
