Hello All! I picked up this pendant bc I needed another pendant like I needed a …lol.
But. I do love the bluffy old mine, if you can call it that? Or is it a cushion cut? Any ideas?

Anyhow. I am finding that the stone gets lost in the pendant. I don’t like the way it’s oriented either. I prefer it to be vertically set. I am wondering if maybe it’s just a case of rotating the stone and fresh rhodium bc tbh, the stone might disappear on my chest.

IMO, it definitely gets lost, but I wonder if that's the purpose of that setting. Kind of like an illusion setting. When
I looked at the first photo you posted, I thought it was a 3-4 carat stone, then looked at the other pics and figured out
it was a smaller stone in a unique setting.

I'm not sure if rotating the stone is going to make a big difference in it not getting lost in the setting. However, it could be
a simple, relatively inexpensive change to see if it does what you want it to do. If not, you can always go for a total reset
after that.

Please post if you make any changes...would love to see!

I would reset as one of the prongs/claws does not appear to be gripping the stone properly!

If I were to reset, I would put it in an air gap/line halo that allows the stone to wobble when moved.

This is an inspiration setting that I have in the form of a heart pendant - the centre diamond is not fixed and can articulate:

DK :))

I like the setting, but can see your point about the orientation of the cushion shape. I would leave the diamond in its current orientation and fix those prongs. Then move the bale to align with a "corner" of the cushion.

lately I don’t wear necklaces much so maybe a reset into a ring…. I will definitely post the make-over! Ty!

This is a great idea. I have a few ring settings that I might toy with but I plan to keep the setting just in case.

HI:

Put a colored stone in the pendant, you'll see some contrast. If you don't wear pendants , maybe ask your daughter if she would wear this?

cheers--Sharon

Agree this is a great idea! I really like the setting details and the stone will appear larger when hanging in the kite position. I also think that using a narrower straight bale, rather than this one that gets wider at the top would help. You find so many pretty pieces!

I'd reset the stone into a bezel that emphasizes it's shape. And then set the setting with a new MMD. And then you have TWO pendants.

Yes! This is what I love—the shape. I would love a bezel—but lately, I just don’t wear my pendants much. Maybe I should, lol.

Then do a ring. But still a bezel.

Ok. So given my unplanned shopping spree, I had to work with what I had. My first choice was not to go modern but I appreciate the results. Turns out the stone is a 1.14 carat and that was a pleasant surprise!
