Hi all

I have been doing quite a bit of research on diamonds (after knowing nothing a month ago) and I keep coming back to the same diamond (please see attached).

It's been quite an educational journey and I'd appreciate your expert opionions as the only tool I really have available is HCA (score of 1.5). Unfortunatly, I don't have access to ASET or IdealScope images as I can't justify getting DiamCalc when I'm only looking to make one purchase and the seller doesn't provide images.

Clarity and all the rest are triple X.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts. :) diamond_54.jpg

I'm not in love with the crown angle or table of this stone. The pavillion angle is good. It's a 60/60 stone and may not be as fiery as some, with less return of colored light.

can you give us the specifics of the stone as far as clarity, carat, etc? It may be easier to just post up the GIA report number.

Also, if you post your budget and a range of clarity, color, and carat wt. we can help you in your search.

Many thanks for you response canvasback.

Here is the report - diamond_1_8.jpg

This is an alternative (in my same price range) one grade better colour, but I was a bit put off by the stong fluorescence and the lower spread. All that said the HCA is Excellent. diamond_alternative.jpg

Numbers wise I actually prefer the second stone. Though, it will be noticeably smaller.

Do you insist on a vvs1? If you fell to a vs1 or vs2 they would look exactly the same to the naked eye and you'd get much more diamond for the money.

Thanks canvasback. I might go back to the drawing board. I've been doing my searches for V2 and above, but often get scared off by some of the inclusions in the V1 & V2 stones where there is no photo. It's more of a co-incidence that these two stones are VVS1. But it sounds like I should forget the first stone.

Many thanks for your opinion. :)

Not a problem at all. Don't be too worried about inclusions in VS stones. Most of the time they cannot be seen and do not affect the structural integrity of the stone. We'll take good care of you! Let me know if I can help you in your search!

Hi guys,

So I went back to the drawing board and have come up with these two options. They have quite different proportions so interested on your opinions (I think they both look promising). Do you prefer one over the other?

Any thoughts guys?

Of the last two stones you posted, I prefer the first one. I just do not like lower crown angles and larger tables. Their profiles just do not look as good to me. The first one is just a little deeper than I prefer, but what is it's weight and diameter measurement? Just want to be sure it isn't losing diameter due to the depth. I would also not pay for VVS considering VS1's are extremely clean to the point it is very hard to see inclusions with 10 x magnification. VS2's will differ but many are quite clean.

Obviously I have no idea how much those stones are, but here are some other superideal cut diamonds to compare:
